Dozens of models to choose from. All questions on Fixya need 'make model (what it is)' as the first 3 words.
Here are some guesses. The 'control cover' is where you put the back-up battery.

Press the BAKE and BROIL HI/LO pads (on models, use the upper oven controls) at the same time for 3 seconds, until the display shows SF.
Press the CLOCK pad once. The display will show 12 hr. If this is the choice you want, press the START pad.
Press the CLOCK pad again to change to the 24-hour military time clock. The display will show 24 hr. If this is the choice you want, press the START pad.
Press the CLOCK pad again to black out the clock display. The display will show OFF. If this is the choice you want, press the START pad. NOTE: If the clock is in the black-out mode, you will not be able to use the Delay Start function.

I feel your pain, I am in the same position. After endless mucking around I finally figured it out. By the way, this is for my model P10034AP.
Press these buttons: -
Cancel [to abort anything currently underway]
Clock [to set the time]
Cancel [to clear the time allowing input]
nnnn [the 4 numbers HH:MM in 24 hour time]

Hope that helps :)

I have the same problem. I used in on a trip to Europe and plugged it in on 220v. Now I have to replace the power adaptor and I took it to 3 different repair shops. They all told me thye needed to know the specification of the power adaptor, like output voltage and mA in order to change it. But these info are not specified on the adaptor like it should. So I spoke to a sony representative over a online chat and she told me the adaptor doens`t come with the speaker, it's not from sony and they do not have this onformation I needed. So we tried with a 500 mA 3v and the clock was showing but there was not sound, the ipod was not being charged, etc. So we changed it to a 900mA and 6v. It works now! Well, I don know if these are the right specification but everything is working perfectly. I'm just not sure if it can get damaged after a while if these are not exactly the right voltage and power.
To change the clock to 24-hour format:
1. Press and hold the CANCEL and Delay
pads for three seconds.
2. Press the More+ or Less - pad to select
12 or 24 hour.
