Sirius Antenna I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 witha Sirius antenna on the roof. When I put my camper shell in the bed of the truck, it covers the antenna. It looks impossible to get to the back of the radio to put another cable in. Can I extend the existing rooftop antenna? I have a similar problem when I load my slide in camper I only have reception when traveling east/west but none when traveling north/south. Ram3500 2007 factory radio system.

I have the same issue Dodge 3500, Lance Camper

No sign of an external connection for the Antenna (unlike XM)

    extensions are available

I have the same problem when I carry my boat on the truck.
I can get an extra antenna, but the guys at the electronics stores tell me that Dodge has its own connector, and therefore it's practically impossible to hook it up.

You may have to go to your nearest electronics store or Sirius vendor to see if they have an extension cord...as a Sirius customer i never seen one though......Your best bet is to remount the antenna to the forward part of the roof, towards the windshield.

I have a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup with factory sirius radio. When I put my cab over camper on it I lose the sirius radio signal. Is there a external antenna that will work with setup . I can mount it on top...

We had the same issue with our 2007 Dodge Ram truck. We use an external antenna when we have the camper on. You can buy these at various places on line. Get the car antenna not the home antenna. It magnetically mounts onto the truck so we put it on our hood and routed the antenna wire through the passenger side door. Our satellite box is behind the glove box. Remove the glove box and look up in the cavity. We were able to just unplug the factory antenna and plug the external antenna in. It's easy to switch back too. Just be careful with the antenna wire because it's fragile and any little bit of damage makes it useless.

Antenna interface - Sirius to XM, Dodge

connector should fit - provided that there is ONLY one connector for the SatRad and not two.
You might have to trim off some yellow, or pink or green plastic, but the metal connector should fit.

What is best Sirius antenna placement on C5 Corvette?

You could actually bury the antenna in the roof header if the roof is all fiberglass, as it won't block the signal as much as a metal roof will. You could leave a piece of sheet metal stuck to the magnet antenna, but I would bury it INSIDE the car with a chunk of metal under it. Should work pretty decet that way, especially if your city has terrestrial repeaters.

Cobra 29 LTD Classic not transmitting or receiving

As I understand from a tech friend of mine, most truck beds are not grounded well enough. Perhaps you could borrow/purchase a magnet mount antenna and locate it on the roof, for testing. Then you would have it narrowed down to the location.

Sirius Antenna

There are several ways to tackle this problem, most of which would involve getting to the back of the radio, but before you do, make sure you have an "antenna extension cable". Then plug in the 'extension cable to the radio/sirius unit' leaving the other end to 'hang out' where you can then get access to the 'extension' cable. Then you can plug in the existing antenna when you're not using the camper or plug in new antenna that gets clear view of the satellite. Depending on your location and general direction of travel you may be able to use a 'home unit ' antenna on your dash as I do and it works very well. In my truck I often use a home antenna also, although I also have the large unit that bolts to the (tractor) truck mirror assembly.

The other solution is to find a CB repair place (often at truck stops) that is familiar with repairing, satelite antenna wire and pucks. Have them split the wire and place a male and female plug to accomodate the extisting antenna and the new antenna. This service will cost you about $30-50.00 They should find the parts needed at a satellite radio store that sells marine/business/home antennae systems. The parts are not all that common - or the CB fellow may connect male/female connectors that are unique to your truck situation - then any connectors will work but only on that truck of yours. -- Frank

Sirius satellite radio

You will need to get another sat antenna, and locate it somewhere either above the camper, or where the camper does not obstruct the antenna. Any store that sells sat radio equipment (Fry's, Best Buy, etc) will have the micro antenna. Install it either on the hood of the truck, or on top of the camper. You will need to run the antenna to the rear of the dash. They make Y couplers that will allow you to run both the OEM antenna and the extermal antenna at the same time, and it will not hurt the system to have both wired in at the same time.
