Kenmore 80 series washer make high pitched whining noise
Normally makes this noise when starting a cycle particularly on spin cycle. After spin cycle gets to higher speed it sometimes stops. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
Re: Kenmore 80 series washer make high pitched whining...
Cold water screen in hose was half plugged causing it to either shut off the spin cylce due to lack of water or increase the spinning speed. Hope this solves the problem.

That machine doesn't have a belt. It is more likely that you have a bearing going bad. You may also have a tub seal starting to go which then leaks water onto the bearing, damaging it.
1) Make sure valve is open all the way 2) some machines have a screen inside of the hose hook up which could be clogged. 3) last check to see if it is the hot or cold by switch your selector switch on your machine to hot then cold. If one of these positions eliminate the noise then the valve in the machine is bad.
Its the transmission. Try to find a used appliance store in your town. Most save used parts and you should be able to pick up a used tranny for around 100 bucks.
I would take body of washer find out where noise coeing from.. got 2 screws in each side of head, flip head up and take clamps off .. pull whole body off washer run thu cycle and see if ya can locate the noise.. sometimes water pumps get something in them that well make weird noises.. but are in all cycles.
