Airless paint sprayers should not turn off while in prime mode. As long as the prime valve is open the motor can pump paint but the system will not build any pressure. Once the prime valve is closed the pump should pump paint into the hose until it gets to the pressure level required to turn the motor off. If the pump does not turn off with the prime valve closed, it could be that the spring in the valve is weak and won't hold the valve closed under pressure. If the hose is up to pressure and the motor just keeps trying to pump paint, you may have a bad pressure sensor or it is disconnected from the circuit board.

SOURCE: Wagner paint crew won't build pressure or shut off.

1. Does it pump paint in PRIME position. If yes, then the outlet valve assembly may be stuck or bad.

2. If it won't pump paint in the PRIME position, the inlet valve may be stuck, just poke your finger down the inlet hole (machine off) . It is spring loaded and should move about an 1/8".

3. The worst option is the pump piston if froze. To check: remove the plastic hopper assembly, comes off with about 4 screws from underneath. The whole thing just pulls off. Now you can see the inlet assembly with two O rings. Use the white plastic hex shaped tool comes with the spray, and stuck on the lower base of the unit. Unscrew the inlet assembly. If clean enough, you can see the end of the piston. It's about a 1/4" diameter. Turn the machine on for a moment and you shoud see the piston move back on forth. If it doesn't the piston is froze. Good Luck with that.

SOURCE: how do you diagnose a Campbell Hausfeld Airless.

Try to fill it with water and spray. YOu may have paint buildup in the system, and will have to disassemble it to clean it

What would make a paint sprayer lose suction while beeing used

Wore out packings You have a little titan
Check to see if you have flat valves or balls flat valves are better but the packing kit is around 60.00 dollars also check the prime knob it also has seals .
The KEY is to always clean the mechine after use and oil the pistion with throught oil and it will last forever if you repack it every 2or 3 hundred gallons or so and use good tips

Hi my titan 400 its leaking from the oil cap area, I reduced pressure and still leaking?!

Hi Kamil,

Your Titan Advantage 400 needs to have its piston seals replaced which is why it is leaking into the oil cup. They are self-adjusting static packings. This is a classic airless wear situation; paint is abrasive. Its easy to do it yourself and if you do, you need to examine the piston; if it is worn or scored it must also be replaced otherwise it will wear out the new packings fast. All the parts to repack it can be purchased in a kit.

Pumps in up stroke but not in down stroke

Single stroking: You have something stuck in one of the valves, probably the inlet valve.

I have titan 440i and it has very low pressure when i swich it from prim to spray keeps running

When you switch it from prime to paint and it's still running:
- If paint/water continues to come out of the prime tube, your prime valve isn't seating properly and needs to be replaced.
- If you get a little pressure at the paint gun but it is surging, your packings, most likely the lower set, are damaged and letting most of the paint leak back past them. Packing/seal kits are available for your machine. Use all parts in the kit and grease/lubricate all of the parts well. Inspect the piston and cylinder for scoring or pitting that can damage new seals. They should be mirror smooth for proper operation and life of the seals.

440i titan only pressure is between 0-200 psi no matter the setting

If an airless paint sprayer won't prime it's usually because one or both check balls are stuck. First try hitting the head where the pump is sharply with a hammer, hard enough to knock the balls loose but not so much that you do any damage to the pump. If that doesn't free them up you may have to take the pump apart and clean them and their seats.
If an airless paint sprayer won't develop pressure, it's usually because the packing rnigs are damaged or collapsed. The only way to check this is to totally disassemble the pump and check them. Also look for any damage to the piston and cylinder. They must be very smooth and shiney, if they are scored they will eat up any new packing rings you put in.
