Sound card won't work with external input

I have a model w3622 machine.
The sound card works O.K. when I am playing music, downloaded from the internet. But when I try to play from an external source,(line, or mic input), then no sound comes out. After that the card won't play any sound from any source until I restore the whole machine.I have a turntable connected to the line port, and when I hit record I can see the music being played on the screen, but no sound and then I have to go through the restore process again to get it to play .
Any ideas??
Tnx
Jim

Are you trying to record and listen at the same time? It doesn't usually work that way, the computer has to process and encode the audio signals before they can be listened to. Once you restore the computer, are you able to listen to the recording? If you have onboard sound, rather than a separate sound card, all the audio processing is done by your CPU. If you are trying to listen to the audio as it is being recorded, you are probably overloading the capabilities of the device and its shutting itself down. Try to record without listening. Also make sure you have the latest drivers. If it is onboard audio, check the manufacturer's website for updates. If you know that it is Realtek AC 97 (probably says so your manual), you can download new drivers from the Realtek website.

I cant play music from my laptop to my sony dav tz130

Usually the only direct audio output from a laptop is through the stereo mini-jack for headphones. This would employ a standard sterteo cable to the audio input jacks on the rear panel of your Sony, but if those inputs on the Sony are already in use then you can't use that option. However, you might look at external USB sound cards which plug into a USB port on the laptop. These external sound devices may have a USB output to go to your TV as well.

I just received a GPX JM250S Karaoke Party Machine. I have not tried a actual Karaoke CD yet. I plugged ipod in. Problem is- music is playing, then when I speak into mic music stops playing. There is no...

The music to sing along with apparently MUST come from a disk played on the unit. It appears that the external audio jacks are just to use the unit as either a boombox or to drive a larger sound system. You will have to convert your IPOD music into a Karaoke compatible CD to be able to sing along with it... They probably detect MIC input and mute any incoming signals from the RCA jack inputs,

Playing audio

Hi Nickie69,
You can try updating your Audio driver by going to your PC's manufacturer support site and downloading the latest drivers for your model (If you posted which PC you had, I would have provided a link to the driver page for your model) and updating them.
Or, if your integrated (?) audio is toast, then you can buy an inexpensive or very trick PCI sound card and install it to replace the integrated audio in your PC.
Just a couple of thoughts, as I didn't have much information to work with. More details will get you better solutions, as always.
Good Luck.

Love the system...

The e-mu sure can do it. You just run whatever output you want into the input on the sound board. The setup is exactly the same as if you just wanted to play winamp music on the system.

It's your computer that can't handle it. Computer only has one sound output, so you can't play two separate things in two separate instances of winamp, because the sound only comes out of one place on your laptop.

You can buy a second external sound card, like the SB Live External USB Sound card, and maybe run both at the same time, having one winamp output to the external device, and the other winamp output to the laptop's internal sound card device, then one line runs to your e-mu system and the other to a pair of headphones.

Or you can bring another laptop in ;)
