No water to upper arm.

I have a whirlpool dishwasher. It seems that it's getting enough water and sounds like its working but the upper arm is not spinning.

Check to see if you are getting enough water.should be about 1/2 under the heater.if you are getting enough then check the chopper this is under the lower spray arm.could be broken.

you did not give the model # but is there 4 screws under the spray arm you will see 3 of them and the 4th will be under the tube that goes up to the upper spray arm, remove them and then you will find one or to moe before you get to the chopper..again this depends on your model.

ok ben i just looked up your model # yes take out the 3 screws then you cab twist off the tub if you move the tube that goes up the back to the right you can pop that tube off. there is your 4th screw. then when you pull that cover off there will be another screwtake that panel out then finelly one more screw take that off and theres the chopper,if that is full of food then it is broken. You can look up the model # at

this should take care of it. let me know.

Whirlpool dishwasher quiet partner lol is not cleaning dishes on top rack

could be a few things clean inside filters and screens listen to it does the wash motor during wash sound strong like it tossing water around in there open the door during the wash see if kicks some water out at you. If it sounds and seems like its working ok then some units have a rubber check valve little flapper in the tube that goes up the back wall to the upper spray arm i have seem break off and clog that tub not allowing any water to the upper spray arm.

Hello, our Whirlpool dishwasher is about 3 years old. It is not cleaning the dishes; I don't think the arms are turning because the door is always dirty, so no water is getting that far. Also, the cycle...

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

The dishwasher doesn't seem to have nearly enough water in it. The upper sprayer arm doesn't seem to be spinning when running (I open the door and look really quick) and the lower one looks like it barely...

I would lift the drain pipe higher. approx. 1/2 the height of the dishwasher . also rechack incomming water supply. Make sure no blockages and the like. Try again.

Very low pressure getting to spray arms

I removed the lower spray arm, and then the filter. I found that there was a lot of buildup under the filter area. I scraped the buildup off. I found that it was restricting the input of water flow to the pump

Poor cleaning. don't think the pump is getting enough pressure to the arms?

Check if water is flowing into the machine with sufficient pressure.
Check water arms orifices and attachments.
If it is not that check for a blockage on impeller lines.

Whirlpool 6600 24 inch dishwasher: low pressure, arms not spinning

Your water pump is blocked. You will need to either call a repair person or disassemble the top of the pump (inside the dishwasher, bottom) and check the water input duct. It just might be some food, etc.. that is blocking the input. But if you don't see anything then it will be further inside and will need to be removed and cleaned. BIG pain...

Best of luck. BTW, I've had the exact same problem but mine was further inside so I had to remove the whole dang pump, arggggggg.

Upper arm not working

I had similar problem. the problem was due to having not enough water pressure in the line to the upper srapy arm. Did the following:

1. removed debris from sump assembly;
2. removed wash motor and clean clogged separation screen; and
3. sealed with Teflon tape manifold and probe manifold of the upper sray arm.

If you google for 'whirlpool 8178022' you should be able to get KD-12 repair manual.

Goof luck.
