Cant connect to the internet

I have a dell dimension 2400. i kill disked the computer and erased everything, tunrs out the harddrive was shot. i replaced the hard drive, re installed operating system windows xp, and now i cannot connect to the internet. i have brighthouse road runner with a cable modem. i found in another answer to go to my computer, properties, hardware, device manager, and saw the ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, and video controller (VGA compatable) has a question mark next to it. i tried the installation cds and cant find the drivers. i can connect to down load the drivers. i am writing this on another computer....HELP!!!!

    i found the site...thanks alot...but how do i get them from this computer to the one its needed on. can these be burned to a cd? then installed on the other computer? thanks again

    usb stick...moron...i didnt even think of using that. i will try that once i find the right driver. thanks for the info again. last question about this...i could not find the ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, and video controller (VGA compatable) drivers in those lists ya'll sent. i will look again, could they be under a different heading or area.



    you guys have been great, and i really apprec the help. i am not too computer literate and am thankful for this site.

Cant get on the internet
The longer the cable, the slower the connection.

It should work with the cable as it is not "too" long.

I would try turning the modem and router off for one minute and then turning back on.

Hi:
Basically, you need to do four steps:
1) Run the Windows OS installation
2) Install all drivers off of the driver CD
3)Install programs and software that came with the computer, or ones that you added .
4) Connect to the internet, and validate your copy of windows, and run Windows Update again and again, until there are no more updates to download.

I can't connect my dell dimension 2400 pc dt to the internet, it says that it is reading the connection but it won't connect
Check it in the Device MGR see if it is working ok then update driver or completely uninstall it and Restart and it will find and reinstall it ! If you have the dell disk put the driver disk in and reinstall it from disk. Hope this helps!

Dell Dimensions 2400 Primary Drive 0 Not Found
For this problem it only means that the Hard Disk of the computer is not being detected

Try doing the ff:
  • reseat the IDE or SATA cable of the Hard Disk
  • Clean the port where the cable is connected (make sure that the computer is unplug)
  • reboot the computer
  • if problem persist contact computer manufacturer

I turn the computer on and all I get is strike F1 or F2 to setup utility. But, cannot fix it . I just replaced the harddrive in October or November 2008.
Run the setup and check if your PC detect the hard drive. Check also the IDE/Sata connected from your mainboard to hard disk.
