I began watching the Oscars and suddenly noticed that my viewing area did not bleed to the edge--there seems to be a black border around the screen. I thought it might be my cable signal, but the same thing occurs when I play a DVD. What can I do?
This symptom is caused by a poor regulation in the power supply circuit. too low dc supply voltage will result to insufficient deflection, both vertically and horizontally. black borders appear around the raster. receivers generally use regulator in the main power supply to set the dc supply voltage at the value that will allow the picture to fill the screen with a little overscan. defective regulator can result in a small raster. most modern receivers today are using ic (integrated cirduit) regulator. but if you are not inclined with this kind of job, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
