Water Dispenser on Freezer door leaks

My water dispenser doesn't shut off completely. I could remove the whole apparatus if I could get the decorative trim plate removed. I took all the magnetic stripping and inside shelving off from the inside of the freezer door, but I could not find any attachments to the outer trim. The inside of the door is completely filled with a dense styrofoam insulation. I've tried to pry the outer trim plate off assuming its attached with self gripping clips (automotive style) but there is no give and it appears I would just crack it. The model # is Kenmore 363.59577990. This should be a problem for you expert Catriver.

Some of the trim plates need to be pulled downward quite hard to get them to release. Pull any drip tray out then pull downwards on the bottom part while trying to pull outwards too. Try that and let us know.

Water dispenser does not work, any time it is used water just drains out of bottom of freezer area onto floor. Ice cubes works

Hello Melissa;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

I am sorry to say you have a serious problem.

The water supply line to your ice maker runs up the back of your refrigerator from the ice maker solenoid. It is a separate water supply line.

Your water dispenser water line runs from the water dispenser solenoid under your unit and up from the bottom of you freeze door.

You have a plastic tubing leak within your freezer door. Calling a service company to replace the freezer door tubing - a good service technician would not replace the tubing - the damage has already been done.

The insulating material in your freezer door is soaked. The water in the door will cause the door liner to expand and crack. There is no way to completely dry out the insulating material.
The only fix is to replace the freezer door. So, $300.00+ for the door and $150.00+ for the service tech. No, a hair dryer will not do it.

May I suggest:
1.) Remove the bottom toe plate (Kicker plate) in the front of your refrigerator.
2.) Turn the leveling screws counter clockwise so you can pull the refrigerator out to get behind it.
3.) Unplug the unit.
4.) Remove the screws from the bottom cover.
5.) There are two connectors to the solenoid valve to the water dispenser. It is the larger diameter tubing running under your refrigerator.
This will disable your water dispenser. If you see cracks on the inside of your freezer door, seal them with a high temperature silicone adhesive.

If you elect to purchase a new unit, check out Sears Outlet (Scratch & Dent) Stores.

No water from dispenser Matag New filter solenoid valve working, tube to dispenser seems to be blocked

Hello Hans;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

There could be several areas that would effect your water dispenser not working:

1.) When you depress the water dispenser do you hear a 'Click'? If not you have a bad water dispenser contact switch.
I would send you a diagram but I do not have your model number.

2.) In the lower back of your fresh food section is your water dispenser water tank. At times this can freeze near the freezer section. Look in the lower corner of the freezer & your fresh food section for ice build-up.

3.) You could have a bad water filter. This does happen often. Remove the water filter and test you water dispenser.

4.) Do you have water leaking out of the bottom of your dispenser door? If so you have a split in the tubing in your water dispenser door.

5.) Is your ice maker working? Often the water valve to your refrigerator becomes plugged up and you do not get sufficient water pressure 60 PSI to operate your water dispenser solenoid valve.

Water leaking from door when cold water dispenser being used

Hello Frank,
The line that runs from under the freezer door and connects to the dispenser is cracked or the connector is cracked. By removing the lower hinge cover ya should be able to see where the line connects to the door and see if it seems to be cracked and leaking their,if that connector is good then the line inside of the door is leaking..in some cases depending on brand the line is easily replacable without having to dis-assamble the entire door

The freezer door leaks water from the water/ice dispenser. The dispenser fills up with water. Items in the freezer door almost seem as if they never freeze. All items in the door are much less frozen...

Leaky dispenser-------
Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

My Amana french door/bottom freezer is leaking water. Did the procedure with hot water the drain in back of the freezer, although it seemed clear of ice. That didn't help. The leaking stops when I...

Two possibilities:
1. A cracked plastic tube. These will leak whenever there's a call for water - either the chilled water dispenser, or re-filling the icemaker tray (two seperate tubes). Pay particular attention to anywhere the tubes are clamped to the chassis; anywhere they're routed near or under the refrigeration unit; and near the solenoid valve - especially if there's a tight loop in the tube there.
2. A bad (leaking) connection where one of the tubes exits the water valve. Again, these will leak whenever the valve is activated.

Those plastic tubes don't last forever. I've replaced many of them for the same symptoms. They're known to simply deteriorate with age.
Manuf's make good money selling replacement tubing kits.

Icemaker flap door doesn't shut completely resulting in in frost layers forming on and around ice bucket and water leaking into the drip tray and ice forming on freezer door near the freezer door.

Hi,
I found 9 different model to your model number, but all the unit use the same dispenser components.
Below there is a picture of the dispenser, item number 4,5,6,7 and 8 all deal with the working parts.
4 - return spring 5 - pin 6 - dispenser door 7 - Door Mechanism Assy (this one has a heater, not really needed) 8 - Door Delay kidlmo_2.gif but in looking up history, I found a complete door kit that should solve the issue. They came out with a part 8201649 and this part contains all those item and a bracket that can fix the broken tabs that the pin sits in. That was more common.
Back a couple of years ago they stop telling customer that the repair was not possible when the bracket to the pin support (mount) would break.
I hope this helps..

Water is leaking from the bottom in the front left side of side by side maytag. water line is ok not leaking. can't see where it is coming from.

the water for the dispenser (ice/water dispenser in the freezer door) comes from under the frige then up thru the bottom hinge of the freezer door .. it then goes inside the door up to the dispenser .. its a plastic hose and it has to twist near the hinge each time the door is opened .. thats where it usually breaks or develops a pin hole leak .. you can replace the whole hose or just the damaged section if that easier ... since the bottom freezer.hinge where that hose comes up thru, is at the position of your leak then i suspect thats your trouble ... ..also check the condensate pan to make sure its not full .. thats a flat pan under the fridge ..you can usually get acess to it by removing the front kick panel at the bottom of the frige .. if thats full then look for a door seal leak (damaged rubber seal) ... a broken seal or open door will allow moisture to condense inside the machine ..that runs down into the condensate pan where it normally evaporates .. but a problem (like open door) will fill it up to overflow in time ....

Water leaking out of freezer door water dispenser

The fill valve that supplies the water may not be shutting off completely. Also check to see that the lever is closing completely.
