red light on DSL implies no ADSL communication to ISP. Check your phone line connection and make sure there are filters on all the other phone equipment in the home

SOURCE: router to connect or sub the speedstream 5100

Option 1 (easy)
you could buy a switch or router and put in line with your modem.
you will have to set up appropriate networking on the xbox
DSL --> MODEM --> SWITCH <-- PC
^---- XBOX

Option 2 (harder)
you could get a wired/wireless AP (Access Point) for your PC and run ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) through Windows. connect the XBOX through your PC

SOURCE: how do i connect my speedstream 5100 to dsl aftr i turn it on?

Call your service provider.

i.e. Time Warner, Cox cable, Verizon, etc.

Talk to Tech Support. They'll run a line test and guide you through any problems.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best of luck!

SOURCE: I have a 1.5 Mbps line and the Speedstream 5100

I am not terribly familiar with the device itself, but if there are no options in the configuration menu to set that manually on your side, odds are it's auto-detecting what you are getting from your provider.
DSL is kinda finicky when it comes to distance, so could be that you ordered 1.5Mbps and they are only able to give you 288Kbps transfer speeds.
To find out what your download and upload speeds are actually functioning at (in case the device is just reporting incorrectly) go to http://www.bandwidth.com/tools/speedTest/ and run the test.

SOURCE: can"t get on the internet using 5100 speedstream modem my

in your browser type 192.16.0.1 and it will take you to the modem admin page.

Press the check connection button and it will tell you how your connections are doing. If it shows DSL/Internet down, then most likely your ISP is down 95% likely), or your modem is bad (happens pretty often with these things)

If it doesn't take you to the page, try using 10.0.0.1
some of the newer 5100s have that as their address. Same options and advice.

Have an old speedstream 5100 adsl modem from SBC. Would like to use it with new AT&T service. Problem is I have no Installation CD. Havnt used modem in many many years, tho I'm 99% sure it still...

1. In your web browser browse to »192.168.0.1 This address will be located on a yellow sticker on the bottom of your modem.
2. The first screen will ask you for your Modem Access Code. This also will be located on the same yellow sticker.
3. At the login screen type in your SBC/AT&T member ID and password.
4. Click Connect.
5. If everything is successful you will get a screen that says, "You Are Connected." and your Internet light will go solid green. If you username or password is invalid you will get a screen stating such. If there are other problems you will get a screen stating, "The DSL connection is down."

The internet light is off all others green on the 5100 modem. Also, very slow internet and hard to go to various webpages. Will this correct itself over time or is there a quick fix?

You can try resetting the modem to factory condition.
Turn off the modem from power
Disconnect the modem from the computer
Turn on the modem
Press the reset button using a pointed object, (a toothpick or a pencil)
Wait for all the lights to flash green then release the button
Reboot your computer
Connect the modem to your computer

Everything should work fine.

If the problem persists contact the service provider.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

Speedstream 6520 isnt broadcasting a signal to connect to

if the pwr light is on, its not a pwr issue.
if the ethernet light is on you should be recieving a signal.
sometimes you may need to reset your modem and refresh everything in the case of pwr outages or unplugging etc.
i suggest calling your internet service provider and having them walk you through a manual reset of your modem
