I ahve a Sony Bravia Model KDLV40XBR1 LCD TV. In the past few days I have noticed a thin green vertical line. I have an extended warranty through Tweeter but, of course, they have gone out of business. Sony is will to send a tech out but I have a feeling I will have to pay for repairs. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
Either the cable or a connection from the processor to the screen is not making contact. If it is just a cable connection, that can probably just be re-seated. If it is a problem on the board, it probably is not worth it. Find out what their minimum charge and their hourly rate is, then see what a new TV costs. You will probably get a new TV instead.
I would bet on it being a panel issue, you can try a new t-con but I don't think its going to correct it, may be time to buy a new set

This maybe the symptom of a bad Panel. One Vertically This line is 99% bad panel. Call your warranty provider or SONY tech support if purchased under 2 years.

You can either have a bad Y-Upper buffer board, or dirty contacts on the plug associated with the horizontal line. Best to have a service company look at it.

other than a software upgrade. it probably a graphics chip malfunction and will need replacement.
These can be replaced but costly. Does it do the same if you use screen as a pc monitor?

If the line is present in all inputs and modes, there is a problem with the LCD Panel. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD Panel which is very expensive (usually around $1000+ for 40" Sony). Unless the TV in under warranty, it is usually around the same price for a new TV.
Testimonial: "Thanks for the response. The service company Sony recommended told me it was probably the screen, too, and they quoted $1000."

Hi my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
Try the format, aspect buttons on the Box remote, if the line is there on every input and effect the TV menu your panel (screen) is bad.
A new panel would cost as much as a new TV.
