Nothing happens when i tap the video web camera icon. It worked until a few days ago. Purchased this laptop only a month ago.
The only thing I can suggest is try a system restore before the problem, because this will tell if you are looking at a software issue or hardware problem. If this fails you can reverse the changes and take it back to the store for exchange or refund.

what IM are you using? It could be some settings in the IM or it could be forcing it to behave such. go to Tools->Options->Video settings. there select this webcam as your default webcam. as far as the black screen is concerned, go to settings of the webcam and check the contrast and brightness settings. adjust them both to your liking.

my video web camera will not appear in the taskbar but it's running, the toolbar pops up. it shows it's checked to come on at start up. this just started happening today. i have restarted my computer 4 times. that hasn't helped. i have a netbook from 2009 with windows xp.
