Hi there:
I suspect it is a exhaust valve guide problem. When an exhaust guide is loose in the engine or leaking oil, the oil never enters the combustion chamber. Oil drops through the guide and into the exhaust port of the head. The exhaust stream then carries the unburnded oil out to the exhaust. As the exhaust system warms up, the oil then burns off and leaves as blue smoke.

Remove the valve cover and take a flashlight and closely look at all the valve seals and guides, especially the exhaust guides and seals.

Thermostat trick

This tip is for 210's 1.4 and 1.5. The original lowest degree temperature thermostat that manual calls for is 180 degree, but living in the southwest with a small 210 4 cyl calls for more cooling techniques. In the summer time I take out the thermostat and run it without it. In the winter time I install a regular GM 350 enginge 160 degree thermostat in my 210. It fits! And you can still run your 210 cool with 160 degrees.

2001 jeep Cherokee running hot

If you have the 4.0L six cylinder those run hot. 210-220 degrees. If the cooling system is fine, both fans are working and it's not overheating you can try adding a bottle of "Water Wetter" to the coolant. I also changed my radiator cap to an 18psi which seemed to help run slightly cooler. You find it at the autoparts store.

Oxygen Censor

The thermostat will not harm the sensor, but the entire engine control system is designed to operate at 210 degrees, therefore all sensors will not recieve proper information,,,end result may be improper mixture in the exhaust pipe, triggering o2 sensor fault reading!
