New poulan 2500 wont run well

I ran pre-mixed 40:1 fuel through the trimmer brand new out of the box. Ran well the first tank. Now it will not run when in the "run" position. It runs half way well on half choke but doesn't have full power. If i move the choke leaver and hold it in between half choke and run it spools up and has more power but won't stay there unassisted....???

Sounds like the fuel filter is particularly plugged. Maybe you had a little trash in your gas, or a bit of it was in the tank from manufacturing. Hopefully changing or blowing out the filter will help. That's the first thing I'd check.

SOURCE: After rebuild only runs on half choke.Adjusting screw doesn't help

The rebuild you did is correct, but did you clean the small ports in the carb.? I use a Den Tek Brush (used for cleaning teeth). They work great for this job. You may also want to check the small screen in the carb. The smallest of particles can cause this problem.

SOURCE: My Poulan featherlite weed eater will not run on no choke

yes you could have
anytime you have to run half choke or choke to get to run you have a lean condition and not enough fuel.
you could also have a stuck ring on the piston which is very common and this requires dismantleing engine to access, also scuffed piston and etched cylinder wall.
if you have a compression guage you can screw into the spark plug hole and hold throttle open and pull the rope 5 0r 6 times like your trying to start it your final reading should be 70 psi or above if its below 70psi you may have the above mentioned
also check the tightness of the 2 head bolts allen type or torx type sometime they loosen and the gasket between the cylinder head and crankcase blows out

just some things to check hope this helps some

SOURCE: trimmer only works on full choke

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylight through it.) Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

SOURCE: i have a poulan pro trimmer, it wont stay running

First of all, YES. boggs is a word in my dictionary. Remove the muffler and carefully take it apart. Pay close attention as to how it comes apart because it is vary important it goes back the same way. you will probable find that it is clogged. If it is then remove the debree. If it isn't then you will have to adjust the fuel mixture screw. First start the trimmer, then let it run for a few minutes to warm up, then gently turn the screw a little bit at a time counter clockwise first, squeezing the throttle inbetween adjustments . If it starts to take off then fine tune it untile your happy. If it boggs worse then turn it clockwise.

But first check the muffler.

Good luck

SOURCE: My Poulan Pro weed trimmer SM132 does not run.

The primer does require two lines attached as it is a Walbro style primer. All four SM132 models uses the WT628 Carb. Since the trimmer ran 10 minutes then you have got all the lines connected right. Mostly you got trash in your carb or it simply needs rebuilding as the diaphragm may have pin hole in it or the check valves are worn out. Depending on the age and use of your unit you may also have a sticking piston ring.

What type of fuel mixture do I use for 20760 Homelite gas trimmer?

Most likely not the answer you are looking for but here is a shot:

Pick up a bottle of the Echo brand 2-cycle oil. It will say "Extended Life" on the labeling. This is meant to run in Echo products, but it is a very FINE and well engineered oil. Mix it according to label directions for 50:1 ratios. (2.6 Oz. to 1 Gal. Gasoline)

When mixed at this ratio it provides MORE than adequate engine protection for ALL 2-Cycle engines, including those that run in 40, and 30:1 ratios.

I mix one 2-cycle tank to label instructions on the Echo oil for 50:1. It handily runs in my Echo chainsaws, non-echo trimmer, Poulan Pro leaf blower, etc. They all run different ratios, but THRIVE on the Echo mix without as much oily residue and smoke to boot!

CAUTION: I do not know of ANY OTHER MAKE of 2-cycle oil that CAN DO THIS *SAFELY*.

Remember:

Always mix your 2-cycle fuel starting with *fresh* gas.

Mix only that which you can use in 30 days.

Use 89 Octane fuel to make your mix in small piston 2-cycle engines.

Clean and re-oil intake filters @ every 10 hrs. operation time. Check and re-gap your plug when you service your filter!

DRAIN unused fuel from tank back into gas mix container. Restart and let engine idle to run any remaining fuel out of engine and carb. Storing fuel in ANY 2-cycle longer than two weeks is going to gum them up and nothing short of a carb rebuild will get them sputtering back to life again!

Remington Axcess hedge trimmer wont run at all.

Check your fuel lines. It is probably getting air into the system. Also check inside the gas tank to make sure the fuel pick up line is still attached.

Poulan weedeater

So your weed eater fails to start. Is the unit fueled up? Since it's a two stoke the gasoline must be mixed with two stroke oil. The mix ratio is 40 to 1. That's 40 parts gasoline to 1 part oil. If there is fuel in the gas tank now, how old is it? If the unit was stored incorrectly the gasoline may have gone bad and gummed up the carburetor. If this is the case, the old gasoline will smell like varnish and the carburetor need to be overhauled and cleaned.
