Hello! We just purchased a Dell Inspiron 530S with Windows Vista Home Premium. Initial hook-up and operation with no problems. Internet connection via Verizon DSL using modem and Netgear wireless router WGR614 with LAN cable to PC, other notebook connected wireless.
When the PC goes to "sleep" mode, the router "turns off" and the wireless connection with other notebooks are lost, as well. Turning the PC on from "sleep" mode, the router connection is not recovered unless the PC do a complete restart OR we unplug then plug the LAN cable to the adapter then do a network diagnostic repair process. We went to device manager to configure the ethernet adapter not to turn off in sleep mode but the problem still exists. We even tried connecting the DSL modem directly to PC via LAN and "sleep" mode also disconnects internet connection when turned back on from "sleep". We already called Dell Support but cannot provide guided solution. Also called Netgear and they claim it is not router problem but (maybe) ethernet adapter settings issue. Please help.
Thank you.

The ethernet connection to my Dell Dimensionsion E520 with Vista and an Intel 82562v 10/100 Mbps netwoek card is only running at 10 Mbps whereas everything else in my wired home network is running at 100 Mbps, including a computer that is 5 years older. It's the card or Vista or the combination, as the cable is fine.
SOURCE: Intel 82562V-2 10/100 ethernet adapter does not turn back on from vista sleep mode
Similar problem with XP Pro SP2, Intel 82562V-2 10/100 on Dell Vostro, Belkin G router. Windows will often say network cable is disconnected. I haven't isolated the problem to power management, but I wouldn't be surprised after seeing your post. Tried different cables, ports, and no other network devices have the problem. I just tried tuning off "reduce link speed during standby" in the network driver options maybe that will fix it. Before here are the things I would have to do to get it to work: unplug cable, wait (for several seconds), plug it back in, retry, retry, or restart the computer. When it isn't working there are no ethernet LED's on, if the lights come on when I replug the cable in then it works, but this does not always happen.

I have the same problem on a new Dell Inspiron 530 running Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I have implemented many attempts at trying to fix the "wake from sleep connectivity" problem both at the router (a D-link di-634M) and at the network adapter card level -- I disabled IPv6 (both in regedit and by unchecking it in System Properties for the adapter), disabled/unchecked IPv4 and all settings relating to IPv4 in System Properties, disabled DHCP Broadcast Flag using regedit, and I adjusted the power settings so the adapter never goes to sleep (even if the computer does). Nothing has worked. Internet connectivity is still hit or miss upon reboot or upon wake after a sleep or hibernate state. The most recent driver update (12/2/2008) for the adapter from Intel has not solved the issue. If anyone knows of the solution to this annoyance, it would be greatly appreciated if you shared it. Thanks.
Hi, Dell Vostro 200, same NIC. Although I have no problems on Vista Home Premium 32bits, nor with linux kernels up to 2.6.25.19, I have the problem on linux kernels 2.6.26 to 2.6.28.4 (current as I write this), AND on Windows 7 beta!

SAME PROBLEM SAME DELL 530 INSPIRON , REFORMAT,REINSTALL, DELL NO HELP.WE HAVE TO PAY TO EVEN GET SOFT WEAR SUPPORT .
same exact problem, same computer by dell .new and no fix
I have the same problem. I found that you can scream at it and then unplug the ethernet wire and plug it back in. That seems to wake it up again. It's a pain in the but. I'm looking for updated drivers today, April 29, 2009 to see if there's a fix yet.
