I have the briel multi pro EG 281 PG/APG. When I try make espresso, water comes from the frother and not from the brew head. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? Thanks!

sounds as though your brew head is clogged. when was the last time you descaled your machine? even if you've recently done it, it would not hurt it to do it again. descaling will eventually clean out the head and lines to the head and thus, your brew head should be despensing the coffee again. the reason it is having water coming from the frother is because under pressurization the water is shot into the areas that are open for releasing the pressure in the form of water. if one or the other outlets are clogged, then the next one available takes the pressure from it as it is re-routed to the only open source as your frother.

Why does frother makes elelctricty go off?

If it is the GFI that trips, there is current leakage through a path outside of the normal return connection, which could mean a safety problem. If the circuit breaker trips, or fuse has blown, there is a short circuit inside the frother. In either case, the frother needs to be disassembled by someone knowledgable in electrical circuitry. It could be something simple, like frayed wire insulation, or could require replacement of an electrical component or the entire frother.

Check to make sure that the power cord is plugged in. If it is, plug something else into that outlet to test and make sure that the outlet works (use a lamp or something that you know works). If the outlet doesn't work, check your breaker box for a popped breaker. If the outlet works, and you are sure the power cable is connected properly, then you need to return the TV to the store where you bought it. Most retailers have at least a 30 day return policy for defective merchandise.

Up in your brew head is a filter screen. Remove it.
There should be 2 Allen head screws. Remove them. There should be a disk below this plate. Remove it. Spring and check valve.

Power OK to base, but frother has no power

My frother was working several month without problems. I love that! Someday i try to turn it on - nothing. I opened the frother and found out the the thermal fuse was broken. The specification for that fuse is 108°C/5A 125V~. The fuse you found in the red wire - there is a transparen tube to protect the thermal fuse contacts.I replaced the fuse - it worked !
That means the frother was overheated. The fuse has done the job.

I have an Nespresso Aeroccino that will not make froth

Sorry, but it looks as though you have the classic Aeroccino-problem. Nespresso states that leaving the Aeroccino on its base while it is plugged-in to the wall, will cause it to short-circuit (because there is no off-switch on the base, it is continually feeding full power to the frother), and the result is that it makes only warm milk. Replacement is the only solution...I hope you are still under warranty.

The hand-sets are not registered with the base-station. Reset system by: remove batteries, unplug base station, disconnect batteries in all hand sets. Wait 15 minutes. Reinstall batteries in hand sets. Reinstall batteries in base station, plug base station in. Place each hand set in the base station until it automatically registers (usually immediately, or within 1 minute or so).

If that doesn't fix the problem, if possible, return the system to where you bought it for exchange or refund. If that isn't an option, call Thompson help line. They are not particularly knowledgeable, but will authorize a return to the a repair center. The process is slow...

My experience: The two hand sets that came with my system worked perfectly, but none of the three additional handsets I purchased would register. The three additional handsets I purchased were the last three on the my retailer's shelf, so, retail exchange wasn't an option. I contacted Thompson and they authorized return for repair or replacement. The repair center received my handsets on October 29, 2008. Its now November 27, 2008 and I'm still waiting.

Not making froth

Had the same problem, but called Nespresso. Their tech suggested the following: 1) always leave off the base - will stay on even if button not pressed 2) invert the Aerocinno for 24-48 hours to "reset" the thermostat in the device. I began leaving the base plugged in, but immediately after using and cleaning (don't get ANY water in the bottom of the machine!), I invert the Aeroccino and leave it that way. My machine began making great froth with any tyoe of milk, and continues to do so a month later -

Sounded crazy to me initially, but it works.....Never returned the device, and no need to do so now - Good luck!

Just wanted to comment on the issue with the Aeroccino when it stops working. As has been mentioned, Nespresso stated in the past that perhaps moisture (water) had gotten into the bottom of the frother and that might have been the reason it had stoped working. This was not my problem---I was very diligent in preventing ANY moisture entering the unit. But Nespresso has finally acknowledged the real issue. This is Nespresso's partial reply to my query: "Another possible cause for the Aeroccino to not turn on is the result of the Aeroccino jug being stored on the Base. The base does not have an on/off switch; therefore it is drawing full power at all times when plugged-in. If the Aeroccino jug is stored on a plugged-in base it can short-circuit. Once this has occurred there is no troubleshooting that will alleviate the issue, and replacement is the only option." There you have it. Mine would turn on for a several seconds, and merely warm the milk, instead of frothing it. I guess it took us 9 months to short-circuit it. Luckily ours is still under warranty, so a replacement is being shipped. Good luck to all of you with the same problem...I hope you are still under warranty. For those of you with a working Aeroccino: Don't leave the base plugged-in when not using the unit.
