No fuel flow to Briggs & Stratton Intek, 18.5 hp

Engine ran fine then just stopped running. Replaced fuel filter, and fuel pump. Check vacuum line for holes. Tank is full of fresh fuel. Pulled fuel line between carb and pump and poured gas in line directly to carb and it starts and runs until all gas is out of line. Thinking fuel flow problem from tank to pump??? Any ideas.

Blow air back threw the line towards the tank you have something clogging it or you forgot to turn the fuel on

SOURCE: 18 hp briggs & stratton intek i can get it

Check the choke, if that doesn't work the old gas may have left residue that is plugging your ports.

So have you actually checked spark to both plugs? If so then inspect valves to be sure valves are operating. Sounds like running on one cylinder. A quick check would be to unplug one spark plug at a time. You may find if you remove the dead plugh wire, there is no change. If you unplug the running cylinder it probably won't start. Sometimes the compression release mechanisms can come apart or come loose. Download your manual for you engine model at www.briggsandstratton.com

New 24 hp B&S engine running out of fuel

There is a restriction somwhere before the fuel filter, this is assuming gravity feed and there is no fuel pump for the engine.

Had the same problem with an almost new Craftsman w/ Intek 20.0 HP. Check all the "usual suspects" and had to have a tech come out. He had me start it. It ran for a few minutes and stopped (per usual). He immediately went to the Anti-Backfire solenoid. It is an electrically operated "plunger-style" fuel line blocker. They are famous for going bad. The part is about $65 and its sole purpose is to starve the engine of its fuel supply at shutdown so it won't backfire. If it is disabled, the user must throttle the engine down for 10 seconds or so before turning the key off in order to avoid backfires. Gee... let's see, 10 seconds of my time each time I use the mower vs $65 part ... No contest! Remove the solenoid, take a pair of electrician side cutters and snip off the tip of the plunger and reinstall it. Problem solved ! ! !

I have a briggs 20 hp intek , it run about 15 or 20 minutes and shuts down. i've cleaned the carb replaced filter and fuel line and replaced both coils . what is making my filter run dry?

Believe it or not, I had this same thing happening on our L120 John Deere. Turned out to be a plugged gas cap vent! At first I couldn't believe it but i resolved it with my air compressor. Now I always make sure the vent is clean and have had no problems since.
