The dryer started making a sqeeking type noise and struggles to turn the drum especially with a heavy load of clothes. We thought it was a belt and tried to take back off, but can't get off. Looking from top at drum and appears to have just one belt. Not sure where to go from here.
First off send the brand name and model number off of the dryer open the door and look around the opening where you put the clothes in and you'll see the model number.there is only one belt, you could have a bad roller,or a bad belt pulley or something in the blower wheel from running the dryer with the lint filter out, something can go down where the filter goes and get into the blower but the only way to tell is by getting in there,if you need help send info or go on utube and put in your model and brand name, there's tons of videos out there on taking apart dryers.

this is not 100% diagnosis as can't listen to noise but fault may be bearing lip seal disintegrating which is a serious fault and if im right then bearing will shortly go as well. reason it is noisy during start is that seal is dry and gets wet when full of water

Bonus, it actually completes a wash cycle and does not stick at 6 minutes, drying forever.
Freakin service tech stated it was the Power Control Board, IDIOT!
While I was in there, I cleaned out the heater blower assembly and sensors. They were full of caked on lint and the sensors had debris all over them.
Also cleaned out all the lint and debris around the rubber seal, this will eliminate those annoying mildew oders.
Hope this helps someone, Happy New Year!

Check the motor at the bottom of the machine. Also check the timer on the unit to make sure the timer is work

ACTUALLY HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
SOUNDS A LITTLE LIKE BROKEN BEARINGS but I knwo it is not that serious. Seems like lint build up in the rotation drum space between steel and rubber ring seal at front door.

Oh s***! If the motor turns but the drum does not, the drive shaft has broken loose from the three arms which attach it to the drum. (the part is called the "spider") To repair, remove bolt on end of shaft at center of motor. You may have to cut it with an angle grinder, but don't worry about that, because the shaft has to be replaced anyway. Remove motor rotor and stator. Remove washer front, drain hose, fill hose, shock absorbers, support springs, all wires attached to outer drum, and eventually the entire outer drum. Remove bolts between front and back halves of outer tub to allow removal of inner drum. Remove 6 bolts holding 3 arms of spider to back of inner drum. Re-assemble with new spider and new bolt for end of shaft. If you can do it in under two hours, give yourself a big pat on the back. This is about a 8.5 on a 1 - 10 difficulty scale for washer repair. Good luck Mike.
