YOU MUST PRIME THE PUMP.. OH I JUST SEEN CENTER DISCHARGE. NO, THE ONE THAT IS CLOSEST TO THE MOTOR IS THE DISCHARGE.BASKET SIDE IS SUCTION. HERE IS A LINK ON HOW 2 REMOVE YOUR PUMP
If you're using a sand filter you don't use diatomite like you do on a DE filter. You should 1. Turn pump off. 2. Move valve to backwash. 3. Allow to back-flush till water is clear (check sight glass). 4 Turn pump off again. 5 Move valve to rinse 6. Turn pump on till water is clear again.7 Turn pump off, return valve to filter. 8 Turn pump back on again. No power is added to a sand filter. There are some materials to "clean" your sand perhaps twice a year, follow the manufacturer's directions for this.
if your pool is clean its not sand when we vac customers pools we put vac in pool and put vac hose over pool take a wet vac put on end of hose outside pool keep it on only long enough to get water flowing save your filter and water if you want to vac through skimmer make sure you are in filter mode good luck
water level must be about the discharge (eyeball) in the pool to back wash. Check the hose connections to make sure that hoses off the the filer head are going to the right place Look for the words "Pump" , "pool" and "waste" molded into the valve. I've seen it a number of times where "Pump" and "pool" were connected the wrong way.
It sounds like the pump is either overheating or the thermal protection switch that senses the overheating situation is defective. If nothing else changed like running on an extension cord, etc, a small motor repair shop can get you back up and running fairly inexpensively.
this year model is notorious for fuel related probs...check the remainder of the fuel system, injectors, and the fuel pressure regulator also verify that the fuel pump is actually running and getting the correct amount of power to the pump itself..... it may not be bad just not getting enough power
replace the distributor oil is leaking into the electronics of the distributor and shorting out pull cap back off and look and see if oil is leaking out
