Yes, there is. You can find information about it here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_SDRAM
If you want real help, know your motherboard's brand & model so we could check what type of RAM it supports. If you can't find out, download and install speccy or aida64. It could give detailed report about the specs of your pc.
Hope this helps.

Upgraded ram 1gb wont boot hp 510 mobo 30C4

If you added another 512Mb RAM to increase the RAM to 1Gb then the new 512Mb memory stick could be incompatible with the original 512Mb or it could be faulty.
Use RAM that is same make and speed as the original RAM.
Remove both RAM and just insert the new 512Mb into your laptop and see if the laptop boots up, if not then the RAM could be faulty.

How much more RAM can be added?

Windows 32 bit supports up to 4GB, but will only give 3GB as usable. 64 bit is a whole different story, but keep in mind that most software is not written for large amounts of RAM.

What's the maximum ram for a medion 1453 desktop

Hi, the most typical setup is 512MB, but you should be able to put a maximum of 2G.
Hope this helps

When i upgraded the memory to 2G of memory, the screen will not turn on.

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. If you have tried putting a single stick of 2 GB or RAM, it won't work.

Ensure you have purchased the proper kind of RAM. Also ensure the stick is seated securely and properly into the slot.

Good Luck,

IBM ThinkPad T40 2GB Max RAM

The T40 has two ram slots, you can put a 1g chip in each totaling 2g. If the chip will remove, then it is changeable. Vista needs a minimum of 256 to run, so, when you change BOTH chips to equal 2g it will probably read 1.744g, or it may read the full 2g. If it only reads 1g, then the second slot under keyboard may have malfunctioned. It could also be that the 256 chip is bad and your really only running 512 now. With all that said, in order to achieve 2g, you will need to put a 1g chip in each slot.

Adding RAM

If it has 4 slots and supports 2Gb max with 2 slots currently populated with 2 x 256mb chips you'll need to remove both those chips and install 4 x 512mb chips to reach the max of 2 Gb.
