I have a transmitt problem with the factory CB radio on my 1990 Honda Goldwing GL 1500 SE. It does transmit, but the signal is muddy and garbled on the receiving end. I have tuned the antenna with a SWR meter, and cleaned all the antenna and electrical connenctions and the antenna mounting base, with no real improvment. I am now thinking the problem is within the CB radio itself. I found a company who repairs these units, but I need to know how to access the mounting bolts to remove the radio. Can it be done through the left fairing pocket, or do I have to remove more of the fairing to gain access? Thanks in advance for any help with this matter.

SOURCE: brushes in starter
Yes. It can be done. The starter motor is located outside the engine block so it should be easy to take it out. from there, you may disassemble the starter motor and replace the carbon brush as you wish.
SOURCE: my radio on my82 honda goldwing dont have sound
(Better1969) is correct. I just bought a 1983 Aspencade and there was no sound to my speakers. The gentleman I bought the bike from supplied new speakers but I quickly ruled that out. There are 3 fuse links behind the left turn signal in the fairing. 1 was a 1 amp, 1 was a 2 amp and the blown fuse was a 5 amp. I didn't have a 5 amp so I put a 2 amp in its place. So far the sound is still working but my FM radio reception is very poor.

Forgot to mention I have already tried another microphone, so I know that is not the issue also.
