HP C7180 has message INK Thresholds Exceeded Do Not ship in its current condition

I had a problem with "yellow" cartridge and followed a thread which I now can't find to tell you what I did. Now the printer will print from computer. I can scan to the printer, but cannot scan and print directly from the printer. The message I get reads MFG Ink Threshold Exceeded. DO NOT ship unit in its current state..

"The instructions were to press * and # at the same time and the screen will say ENTER SPECIAL KEY COMBO. Enter 124 and the screen will now say UNDERWARE. Press the right arrow key - screen now says BOOT CODE MENU. Pres ok - screen now says SET TO MFG MODE. Press okay. Press cancel until you are back to original error message. Turn off printer. Turn back on. Screen will have a black mesh pattern then change to a vertical coloured stripe screen. Press the on button. The screen will say INK THRESHOLD EXCEEDED and under this DO NOT SHIP UNIT IN ITS CURRENT STATE. Print-scan-copy will now work wirelessly."

As I said, I before - I can print from computer (not wireless), scan to computer but cannot use as a copier and print. I figured I didn't have anything to lose by trying this as HP told me my printer was shot and I needed a new printer. I will wait to see if there are any other suggestions, then will try to unistall as suggested below.

I should add that I am unable to turn off the printer. It shuts down, but goes back to the mesh pattern. I need to unplug it each time I am done with it.

Sad to say I know how to fix this.
1. Power up the printer
2. set printer's date to the current day.
3. On the keypad press the * and # keys together
Now press one at a time 1,2,3 for the code
"screen stould display a white backround with 2 lines of info"
4. remove all the print cartridges
5. Press the >> arrow button twice until "reset menu" is found
6. Press OK
7. Select Partially full reset Press ok
( the printer will take almost to minutes before it powers down)
8. Power up the printer and follow the steps.
reinstall ink ect......

I don't know why this happens but I sure a lot of printers are in the trash because of this. If you print out a SELF TEST REPORT the
dates on the age of the ink Cartridges are likely out of life range.
Planned obsolescence by HP can be found all over the web. This could be one of those.

Hp c7820 printer 02 black catridge

Open the printer and remove the ink. Clean around the ink carriage and the under the ink with alcohol and a cotton swab. Pay special attention to areas with copper contacts. Keep in mind too that some printers will not print, even with full ink, if the exact type of ink it expected you to have installed is not right. Double check that the ink is correct against the manual or written instructions inside the printer using the number not the shape or color of the cartridge. Not every cartridge that fits the printer necessarily works.

I haven't the manual for this printer color laserJet 2600n series,

document.tlSearch.tx.value=unescape("") s.gif s.gif
HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer - Installing Print Cartridges When a print cartridge approaches the end of useful life, the control panel displays a message recommending that to order a replacement. The printer can continue to print using the current print cartridge until the control panel displays a message instructing to replace the cartridge. The printer uses four colors and has a different print cartridge for each color: black (K), cyan (C), magenta (M), and yellow (Y). Replace a print cartridge when the printer control panel displays one of the following messages: Replace yellow cartridge, Replace magenta cartridge, Replace cyan cartridge, Replace black cartridge. The control panel display also indicates the color that should be replaced (unless a genuine HP cartridge is not currently installed). Change the print cartridge
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Open the front door. c00315320.gif CAUTION: Do not place anything on the transfer belt (ETB), which is located on the inside of the front door.
  3. Remove the used print cartridge from the printer. c00315321.gif
  4. Remove the new print cartridge from the bag. Place the used print cartridge in the bag for recycling. c00315322.gif
  5. Grasp both sides of the print cartridge by the blue handles and distribute the toner by gently rocking the print cartridge from front to back. CAUTION: Do not touch the shutter or the surface of the roller. c00315323.gif
  6. Remove the orange shipping locks and the orange shipping tape from the new print cartridge. Discard the shipping tape and shipping locks according to local regulations. c00315324.gif
  7. Align the print cartridge with the tracks inside the printer, and using the handles, insert the print cartridge until it is firmly seated. c00315325.gif
  8. Firmly close the front door. c00315326.gif
  9. Turn on the printer. After a short time, the control panel should display Ready.
NOTE: If a cartridge is in the wrong slot or is the wrong type for the printer, the control panel will display one of the following messages: Incorrect yellow, Incorrect magenta, Incorrect cyan, Incorrect black.
  10. Installation is complete. Place the used print cartridge in the box in which the new cartridge arrived. See the enclosed recycling guide for recycling instructions.
  11. If a non-HP print cartridge is in the printer, check the printer control panel for further instructions.
NOTE: When replacing or changing a black print cartridge, a cleaning page will automatically print. This helps prevent speckles on the front or back of printed documents. A cleaning page can also be generated using the control panel or the HP Toolbox.
