I got these a few years ago and about 4 months after buying them, the right speaker completely stopped working. I put them away after that and just kind of assumed they'd bit the dust because they were poorly made. Eventually, about a month ago, I got curious and decided to start using them again. I figured that having one speaker was better than just using my laptop's internal speakers. However, when I hooked them up, both speakers started to work again! I was excited. And now, after a few weeks of using them, the right speaker completely stopped working again! The green light on the right satellite is lit up fine. The plug into the back of the subwoofer is securely connected. I just can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions?
I had a problem with the speakers not working properly. The green lights lit, but the amount of sound coming from the speakers compared to that of the sub was much lower.
I decided to take it the speakers apart.
I found that the magnets on the speakers had moved forward slightly in the plastic cage they sat in. I pushed them back as far as they would go, and Hey Presto! working again!

@bestcat1: Ughhh... do you happen to know how to open the right tweeter on the Creature III set? I've taken out all the screws from the bottom, but can't figure out how to open it to see if the magnet needs to be pushed back into place. Thanks a million!

I know this is 3 years late, but if you are or anyone else still wondering, the magnet is just inside the bronze casing. No need to unscrew anything, just use the base of the pencil eraser. Insert it into the face of the speaker and push all the way back until you can't push anymore. It helps when you are playing music or something and you will hear the difference. Hope this helps.

Alright so afrer i messed around with this for a while i found out that if you open up the right speaker and then unscrew the black piece inside holding the speaker in you can remove the actual silver speaker part of it. you then push the silver part farther back into the metal part housing in. in this way you complete a connection. you should be up and running after that.
I have the same problem. What works for me is slightly pulling out the speaker cord in the back of the woofer, and I get both speakers to work. Sound isn\'t 100%, but it\'s been a week now and I can hardly tell the difference. You\'ve probably already thought of this - just thought I\'d pass it along anyway.
Brilliant solution! This solution fixed both the lack of sound in the left speaker and the overall volume. The "little metal cup" needs to be pushed AWAY from the speaker until a small magnet is exposed. If you see glue residue on the top of the cup that's your clue. You should not be able to SEE the top of the cup. I had to use a small screwdriver to force it and I was sure I was going to mess it up, but I didn't. These speakers sound as good as new again. THANK YOU!!!
Great! my left tweeter was making a nasty buzzing and both were very quiet, so I assumed that the rubber must have perished... I read this post, pushed the magnet back and it's working perfectly again! if it happens again I'm gonna try supergluing the magnet to the back of the housing.

I had an issue with my speaker with the volume buttons on. Turned out to be the cone material had perished and the magnet was pulling the cone all the way back so no sound was coming. I repaired it by gluing a piece of string to the centre of the cone and pulling it foward slightly then gluing it to the silver tongues pointing out at the front. Doesn't look great but when its a speaker for work IDGAF and it works totally fine. =D

Same issue with the right speaker, check to see if the pins aren't bent. Maybe someone said that already but it fixed mine obviously. Wish I didn't go through the hassle and take it apart like the earlier thread mentioned.
I found the best solution is no 1 - worked for me. Subw. working volumecontrol speaker working - the other one faint.
The small loudspeaker had moved 1 cm out from the plastic casing. I put some glue on the back - pushed the speaker gently onto the glue - works like a charm
The tiny speaker connectors have a triangular socket/key shape just near the metal pin. So if not aligned well the connect doesnt go in completely. So the idea to push the connectors well and deep , with a bit of twist to align works.
Secondly, the stereo input connector from PC does not need the full push (at least in my set.) This connector needs to be pulled out a bit. This fixes the no-sound in right speaker issue. (its atcually no-sound or very low sound.)
Looks like they missed the finer details of those connectors.
Otherwise great sounding and looking speakers, for that price. And those soft touch keys to control volume still impress anyone who sees them first time.

I have no sound. All lights are on. The JBL speakers aren't working when I plug them in to my mac book or imac. It's got to be the speakers.
I've had a few problems with the speakers: first of all, the vibrating hum mentioned by 'Guest.' this was a problem with the transformer, actually, we had to get a new one on warranty... thats probly not what you need but just thought i'd mention it. also, if you're statically charged and you ground yourself on the little volume buttons.... not good... i'm looking for a replacement right now actually.
I have this problem too, but when I pull out the speaker cord a little, the speakers will work but it causes a hum/vibration that is unbearable. My right speaker is the one that controls the volume, and neither of them are working now. I can either have sound and the vibrating hum from the subwoofer or no sound at all!

I had the same issue, for about five minutes. One speaker not working.. Then I read this article. I thought, this is too easy, just push the connections in all the way? But so it goes, and that was the problem. Now it's all working, and the sound is as good as it can be for this price range.

I had the same problem, except BOTH satellite speakers were dead. The subwoofer was thumping weakly so I knew audio signal was getting in. I checked all the plugs for secure connection. I was ready to send the whole system back. So then i googled this problem, and as per one other comment on this page, I pushed HARD on the connectors and what do you know, they slid in an extra 1/8" and suddenly worked! Push those bastard connectors in.
So When I got these Jbl speakers. Sound was SO NICE.
They dropped once in a while but not like hard.. the mini speakers. That wasn't the problem..
one day i did something and both of my sound was gone.
Yesterday, (few months later) I tried to plug in everything, and I realized that if u push it in more, the sound comes out. However, my right speaker is a LOT weaker. (This was the reason i put it away.. I think)

Yep, dnouk knows their stuff! This is the same problem I had. Also, for those of you who are new to how speakers work, the magnet looks like a little "cup" made out of metal "actually a circular magnet inside it". This "cup" needs to be pushed all the way against the beige plastic housing. If you look closely you will see the factory glued it, however if your speaker isn't working the glue probably came undone. I added a few drops of supper glue to mine to make sure the magnet won't slide forward anymore.
I found it was the sound cable that came from my PC to the Woofer - if i moved it around in the back the sound came and went, accompanied by a buzzing noise. Managed to get a new cable and problem solved!!
So glad I found this thread...just moved to a new place and my speakers weren't working. Pushed the plugs in REALLY hard into the subwoofer until I heard a click, and sure enough, they started to work again!
Only hoakie thing is that I can't get sound out of the audio jack in back, only through they headphone jack. So sound quality isn't the greatest, but much better than the nothing I had before. I'll deal with that on another weekend. Thanks!
