Motorola talkabout distance dps

The radio doesnt silence after a message is received. It is solid static, like it has a squelch turned all the way off. The only way to silence it is to change channels.any fix you know of?

    1) How long would it go if you did not change the channel? 5 sec, 10 sec, continuous, etc.?

    2) Does it do it on all channels?

    3) Do you PL activated?

    4) Have you tried switching the batteries between the units? Does the problem move with the battery?

    5) Is it possible the PTT is sticking slightly on the transmitting unit?

If you can answer these questions, it will be easier to diagnosis the issue.

Hello,
You can change the squelch setting with the user buttons, You could set a PL or DPL but the other radio's that you talk to will need the same setting.
Go here for the manual:

Is there any replacement for the rubber outer housing on my Motorola T6510 radios?

Replacement parts were never made available for the TalkAbout radios (other than the higher wattage TalkAbout Distance and Distance DPS). Your options are replace the radios, or watch for used radios for parts on ebay and other similar websites.

Best regards.

Motorola Talk About distance dps battery tray bad. Where might i locate another b tray. THANKS! MODEL P24SRY03G2AA

Unfortunately replacement battery trays (both alkaline and rechargeable NiCd type) for the TalkABout Distance and Distance DPS have not been available for several years. We have had some success in repairing existing trays, here in the repair shop, if the damage is not too severe. As for a source, you might watch ebay for another unit for parts, or replacing your existing radio. Be certain to quiz the seller on the condition of the battery tray.

Best regards.

Need battery tray for motorola dps radio

[This is not a solution, but a commentary on the need for a tray. Please do not rate this post, as it is meant for informational purposes only.]

This is more common that you might think. The battery trays (both 6-AA Alkaline and NiCd rechargeable-style) have not been available for a few years from Motorola. From a nationwide repair center perspective, we find some damaged trays can be repaired, and some owners find a "parts radio" from sources such as ebay.

For those of you reading this posting which have the TalkAbout Distance or Distance DPS, let this please be a reminder to take care of your trays. Once the tray is gone, the radio is not functional, nor can it be repaired.

Best wishes on your search and please post back if you do find one.

Best regards.

I need to know the watt of the t5509

The TalkAbout radios are 1/2 watt radios, with exception of the older larger TalkAbout Distance and Distance DPS, which were 1-2 watts.

Best regards.

Motorola Talkabout Distance DPS Monitor Button Dead

To remove the button properly/safely, you will need a frame removal tool. This extracts the component board from the radio, and then you can get to the back side of the button assembly. This tool is available for around $5-$7 at most Motorola dealers.

Note: The monitor button is not frequently used, so if the PTT button is working properly, I would not be concerned with the monitor button. The purpose of the monitor button is for the user, when using the radio with the "interference code eliminator" turned on, to be able to check for radio traffic on the frequency before transmitting. Very seldom is anyone so polite as to check.

If you are needing to have the unit repaired, here is a link to some info: http://www.eradiostore.com/cart/images/repair_request.pdf

can you check the PL or DPL setting on the radio that is all stadic when you receive a call?

The radio is going into monitor mode after a call is received. This is most often a PL or DPL issue.

MOTOROLA TALKABOUT T5400

First check your batteries. Try the battery pack from a known good radio. If you do not have a battery problem, your issue is probably non-reversible. Sorry. This style radio is non-repairable. The repairable Talkabout units include the Distance, Distance DPS, the TA-7400 and TA-7200.
