My power light is solid red but the console won't turn on, what to do?

I've done everything i could find online, yet still no power.

ok, so i want to make it clear, this is not a overheating issue. it would have to turn on for that to be the problem. a faulty button might be the issue, but i'm guessing theres no way of telling without opening up the case, right? as for any airflow issues... it would have to turn on to know this, i'm sure.

Sounds like RLOD.There is a whole industry set around to fixing this problem relatively cheaply as Sony refuse to recognise its a fault with the console.Sony will fix it if its out of warranty but for what they charge you could buy a second hand console with games cheaper. There are plenty of reputable places will fix it for around 50-70 euro's.

SOURCE: i was playing online when the console shut down

This could be any of a number of problems try these solutions one of which may work. If they all fail to work you can contact sony directly at:

http://www.uk.playstation.com/Support/PS3
or
http://www.us.playstation.com/help-support/PS3

  • Remove any obstructions from the vents.
  • Allow at least 4 inches of clearance on all sides for the PLAYSTATION 3.
  • Remove the PLAYSTATION 3 from any cabinets so it is out in the open.
  • Shut the PLAYSTATION 3 down completely and let it cool down to room temperature, then try running it again.
  • If the fan cannot be heard before the system shut down, the PLAYSTATION 3 may need to be sent in for service.
  • If there is no airflow from any of the vents, the system may need to be sent in for service
Hope this helps. Also be sure to rate whether this helped or not.

SOURCE: Ps3 shutdown?

hi..Seems like your Power Supply went dead or either a faulty button.. Since those are touch pads those sometimes wear out. Another issue could be due to overheating..

SOURCE: my playstation has the light trun green yellow flashing red light

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings. try this? seems to fix alot of issues.

Wii won't turn on.

Reset the AC adapter by following steps below.

1. Unplug the Wii AC adapter at both ends (from the back of the
Wii system and from the wall outlet or power strip).

2. After you've waited a full 2 minutes, plug the AC adapter back in on both ends and check to see if the power light comes on.

My Shuttle Barebone K48 will not even power on.

Try to run it with only one stick of memory in at a time. If the memory doesn't work the computer won't even go into the POST. It only takes one failed stick to stop a computer.

Installed new lamp. When powered up blue solid light and yellow blinking light (15x) , tv would torn off and on several times trying to light lamp. Once that failed red blinking light and yellow solid...

Hi Genaro,

Blue led light lit solid and yellow led light flashes is an initial attempt of the set to re-light the lamp.Red led flashes and yellow led light solid means that the lamp won't light up that's why it only has sound without the picture.
Since you've replaced the lamp twice and still the symptoms persist, I suspected that the fault came from the ballast board and not on the lamp itself. If the ballast board gone to malfunction, there's no high voltage will produce to light up the lamp and will sensed by the processor and trigger the error code (Flashes/solid led light with color code).

To verify whether the ballast board is faulty or not, check if the lamp will lit by looking through the lamp door louvers at the rear of the cabinet upon turning on the set.
Please let me know what you will find to assist you further.

Heard a pop while running ps3 then went dead. Have no red light or anything when turning it on. I've tried everything.

Unfortunately that sounds like your PSU (power supply) shorted, contact Sony to see about warranty replacement if it's still available...

Red light on the Kinect sensor Last Modified 16/05/2011
kinectred_300px.gif If the light on your Kinect sensor is red, the sensor might not be connected properly or your console software might need updating. You might also receive the following error:

Here's what to do to fix the problem:
update_error.jpg Solution 1: Update your console software

  1. Insert a Kinect game disc.
  2. Start the game from the Xbox Dashboard.
  3. If your console software needs updating, you will see the following message:

Update Required: An update has been found, to apply this update you must restart your console.

  4. Select Yes, Restart to install the update.
If you still get the same error message, try the next solution.? ? ? Solution 2: Check the cables ? ?new360cableconnect.jpg

  1. Turn off the console.
  2. Unplug the sensor from the console, and then plug the sensor cable into the AUX port on the back of the console.

No green light? Try plugging the cable into another outlet to make sure the cable is working properly. If you still do not see a green light, your cable needs to be replaced. Contact Xbox Support.
