To change the greeting you need to either pick up the phone or press speaker phone then dial *38 then 1 then you will hear a beep/call tone. When you hear that tone record your message/greeting. Once you are finished press the auto dial/store button. If your are satisfied with that message hang up or press speaker phone again to end the call. If you would like to clear the message, then right after you hit auto dial/store you will hear a beep/call tone press 0 to clear or 1 to rerecord.

Remote access for machine

This come from a previous model than I have (mine is a ol5870), but seems to work for this one in retrieving messages from another phone.

Default access code is 0000 if you haven't changed it (but you should); when answering machine answer dial in the 4 digit code while the outgoing message is playing.

Once in dial 1,2, or 3 to play messages (mail box number I believe)

You can dial * for a help menu

4 Repeat a message
44 Ignores a message (message won't remote retrieve next call)
6 plays next message (skip to next)
7 Deletes message
8 Lets you record a memo
9 Let's you change the outgoing message (5 stops the recording)
0 Toggles answer on/off

I hope this helps some people at least in part.

Need to change system greeting message

You should be able to simply RECORD over the previous message. On the device...look for RECORD and speak into the mouthpiece and that's it.

I can not change the old voice message recording or name on my alcatel 4020

I have had this trouble too, and the answer is remarkably simple - with the handset DOWN, press the [i] button to access the menu. It sounds like the error you had was from doing it with the handset off the hook. Hope this helps.

Why my uniden dect 6.0 answering phone has announce only and not record message

Check settings. Go to menu / sel button, press once. Scroll down to answering setup. Select. Scroll to record time. Options are announce only, 1 min. Or 4 min. Make selection. You will know your machine is ready to answer and record messages by the change in the LCD display on phone base from "A" (announce only) to a number, designating the number of messages previously saved.
