Have in past tried to find compatible code for TOSHIBA TV, using several different remote controls. We are currently using a new Omnitech Giant remote model # 15331, originalloy the code for this TV was 4 digit now all new remotes appear to use 3 digit codes. Is ther any way of changing this?

Depending on the universal remote you can usually program the remote without knowing the codes. One way is to turn on the television, then follow the basic programming instructions for the remote, but instead of entering a code, hit the power button over and over again until the television turns off.
I hope this helps.

Seems like you have to put a "1" in front of the code....

I did this the other day and I think it was 1000 that worked with my RCA universal remote. Once I found the code, it was smooth sailing.

The model of the TV is not important as the code list is by Make only and usually list 3 ot 6 codes to try for each make. Having the Remote control model number is more important so you can find the right instructions and code for your remote.

The codes are what are known as proprietary to the remote manufacturer. If you give me the brand of remote I might be able to help...
