Your electrical socket may be wrongly wired, with polarity mixed up. Try another socket. Also, some electric toothbrushes need to be "off" to successfully charge. Maybe the flasing red light for 10 seconds is telling you the toothbrush is "on" and not accepting charge.

A. the stopping when in charger is normal. (have one myself)
B. the sudden starting could be signs of a short-circuit (possibly caused by electronic metal-fatigue)

If working properly, model 5510 will work either from the internal rechargeable batteries or directly from the cord. If your shaver no longer recharges, it needs to have the rechargeable batteries replaced.

Yes they are designed to self-distruct in as much as the battery will lose it's ability to store charge. This happens if you leave it on charge for longer than is necessary to recharge it fully.

To prevent this from happening, make sure it is fully discharged before recharging. There should be instructions in it for the time needed for a full charge - usually around 4-6 hours for an AA.

Because electric toothbrushes are used in a wet environment, they are usually solvent welded together. If they can be prised apart, you may find a standard "tagged" battery to replace, but the chances of doing this without distruction are small.

hi i would say that you have major problem with this did you drop it sounds like a problem with the circuit contact braun or shavers uk kevin.
