Frigidaire fam157s1a manual

Looking for a owner and or service manual for my air conditioner. THe compressor stays on when unit cycles to the off mode in energy saver. Also noticed the compressor will stay on when unit is turned off. I'm leaning towards the relay sticking on but I'm having tough time troubleshooting this intermitent problem.

clean your return air filter, and while you have the front cover off you may want to clean the evaporator as well (it's the silver grill looking thing) some compressors come off their springs during transport and will rattle for years but still work fine.

Check for power at the plug in, if it's got power take it back under warranty.

SOURCE: My portable frigidaire air conditioner bucket light on

The actual bucket is located inside the machine at the bottom.  To access it, you must unscrew all of the screws and take the front panel off.  You cannot empty it from this side so it is not worth taking the machine apart.
However, in order to empty the bucket, there is a small black plug at the bottom left hand side at the rear of the machine.  Be careful when pulling out the plug because the water will immediately drain.
Good luck.

As soon as I plug into wall compressor switches on without unit being turned on. Turn unit off and compressor never shuts off until whole unit is unplugged

Sounds like the contacts in a switch or relay are stuck together giving power all the time. Get someone with electrical training to check the power side of things.

Thermostat will not cycle compressor temperature

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that the thermostat is not cycling the compressor on and off on your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAM157S1A. Please check the temperature sensing element to see if it is touching a cold coil. This will be located behind the air filter. Straighten away from the coil if it is touching. The other possibility is the compressor shut-off by changing modes. Wait approximately 3 minutes and listen for compressor to restart when set in the COOL mode. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Why doesn't it have any condensation

Hello, if the unit has a drain it may be blocked and not allowing the water to drain. If no drain is present then the unit uses the condenser fan blade to scoop up the condensate and splash the condenser. This is done for two reasons, to keep the condenser cool and to evaporate the condensate

The temperature gauge has stuck on 90 degrees and will not go down...what to do?

Turn the unit OFF using the ON/OFF Switch and unplug it for 15 minutes. After the time has elapsed, plug the unit back in and turn the unit ON. With any luck, the electronics reset and reverted back to the original factory settings. You should know immediately, once the unit is turned ON. If they did, you can now set the controls as you like. If they didn't, the control panel will need to be replaced. Parts are available from Frigidaire or their authorized distributor.

Hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.
