I've ran this new mower over the entire back yard with no problems. I gave it a few hours, because it was blistering hot outside, to start on the front, and I ran the mower for about twenty feet before it seemed to run out of gas. I refilled the mower, but now the cord is locked up and will not pull, almost the same way it locks up if you don't hold the bar in when pulling the cord. Help.

Ensure the cable for the dead man switch is not kinked. Follow the cable from the handle to the engine. There are 2 bolts that mount the dead mans switch to the engine , remove bolts, remove dead mans switch from engine, let hang, try starting. If starting, clean dead man contacts and reinstall. You may have to remove recoil rope assembly and engine cove to get to dead mans switch.
SOURCE: Troy Bilt Lawn Mower pull Cord broken
there should be four bolts holding the cover on that houses the pull cord assembly take the bolts out look inside you should see the rest of the broken cord at the other end there is a spool that the cord rolls up in to pull the cord until it stops the other end of the cord is a not in the cord pull on the knot the broken peice should come out turn the spool 2 times in the direction that is against the pressre while holding the spool in place feed the new cord in through the whole that you pulled the broken cord out of then tie the cord in a knot wind the rest of the cord up then feed the other end of the cord through the new pull handle tie the cord in a knot put the housing back on
SOURCE: Starting issues. Can't pull cord.
Make sure your flywheel brake is not engaged or the cover is hindering the mechanism somehow after it is installed
SOURCE: My yardman push mower is not working. When I pull
the reason it is doing that is because the little flywheel nut on top has ball bearings in it & there possibly stuck what you have to do is take the shroud off & there is a little screen in top bolts down to it pull it off & there should be a small pin hole in the top put a little bit of oil in it & spin it by hand a few times to free it then try it
SOURCE: front wheels lock up when pull mower backwards
Typically self-propelled mowers are propelled using the front wheels, which only turn forward. Pulling the mower back while the front wheels are turning will damage the drive gears. It's best to raise the front wheels slightly off the ground before pulling back.
SOURCE: I have a TROY-BILT model 566 Smart Touch mulching
sometimes these are shot dogs; these are what come and grap the engine and the cord is loose for about an inch or two and then you feel restance from the engine commpresion to start these DOGS are plastic and cheap
