The locks work fine when there's no gear loaded, but when i put my boards onto the rack the locks won't turn. any suggestions?

sounds like a pressure issue ( binding problem ) --- when you go to lock the locks ( with the skis and/or snowboard on rack ) try and push down hard on the rack while you turn the locks,, this might get the pressure off enough to allow the lock cams to pass. if this does not work then the next thing to do is to file down and modify the lock cams so they turn easier without binding. if you do not have the tools to do this modification then you can always go down to your local locksmith shop ( with the skis/snowboard on the rack ) and have them do the modifications -- the shop will only charge you around 10 to 15 dollars for this service.
I hope this helps,

I have two different SKS cores. One for my snowboard rack and one for the Q towers on my Yakima roof rack. How do I set it up so I only have to use one key?

You have to replace the SKS cores you don't want with mates to the ones you do want.

I would suggest replacing the snowboard cores with ones that are the same # as your towers since then you are only replacing 2 cores instead of 4 and it is cheaper.

The key should have a number on it that tells you what core it goes too. You can either contact yakima and get the exact cores you need or go into your local dealer and see if they have them in stock or can order for you.

Need installation manual and mounting instructions for Roc'N Gate by Yakima. Thanks!

The main web page for Yakima Products, Inc. provides a search feature that will match up the rack model you need for your particular car. They will also be able to supply a manual for any model they sell. Included is the website link!

What are snowboard racks?

car without a snowboard rack looks positively naked. Okay, maybe not. But it does look seriously cool when it does have a rack. It looks the person driving the car has a destination. A purpose. Granted the purpose and the destination is that of a vacation spot so as to conduct some serious loafing off, but what the heck, let him have his fun. The snowboard rack is a dead giveaway. Other than looking cool, the snowboard rack serves a fairly important purpose. It protects both the car and the snowboards themselves. By securing the boards in place, a lot of potential mayhem gets circumvented. And mayhem is always best when thoroughly circumvented. If the snowboards are placed in the back seat of the car or in a trunk, the boards may end up moving and sliding all over the place unsecured. To say this could cause a great deal of damage to the internal organs of the car would be a mild comment. Granted, there are those out there saying, “My car is already a piece of junk. I don’t care if the boards scratch it. In fact, I really don’t care if someone steals the four wheeled disaster area.” For those of you who do want to protect your car and your boards, there are two major brands of snowboard rack currently on the market: Thule and Yakima. A two-bar snowboard rack from either of these companies will cost you over $200; although Yakima tends to be somewhat more expensive. Most racks from Thule can be used on any vehicle, provided that they do not have rain gutters. Thule racks are simply affixed to the roof in two places, using telescoping bars that allow you to adjust to the width of any vehicle

Mounting method

I know you said you don't want to remove the front wheel but here are a couple of options for that if you're interested: http://www.yakima.com/racks/bike-racks/p... http://www.hurricanecomponents.com/press... If you don't want to remove the front wheel then you'll need to use a type of rack that has the hook arm or cradles to hold the bike. Thule makes a version of the T2 for truck beds....it's pretty nice. Or just use a hitch rack....the T2, Yakima, and Saris are all pretty decent and it's a snap to load and unload the bikes. They're all in the $320-$360 range, but it's a good investment.,,,

Bike rack for 940 wagon

The mount on the rain gutters...Thule, Yakima, etc. Get locking feet...worth the extra money.

I think you can also get some for hanging off the tailgate...check with the companies online or in a local dealer.
