No sound from speaker

Tom tom 530 just purchased last week . On first outing it worked fine, on second outing voice was distorted as if speaker had blown. Then i tried reset button and got the drum roll and when i went to test sound it made like a 'phhht' sort of noise for split second and sound went dead.
Can you please help .

I have a 730 GO and w/ vol at 100% no distortion, next day AFTER connecting to tomtom home, distortion at 80%. I actually believe it has nothing to do w/ firmware,etc. but am wondering if i should return it. it is only 3 days old.

Same problem, anything over 80% and it distorts wheras it did not when new. I seem to think it may have been firmware upgrade changing the volume?! My unit is like 4 days old Tomtom 730

My speaker did the same, brand new out of the box, but I ran TomTom Home and it upgraded my firmware. Since then, no issues, and perfect clarity

If you have been using your computer with the audio on full you will probably have blown the speaker cones. An easy fix. Add some external speakers.

Seeing as you purchased it recently, you should still have warranty. My advice would be to contact Logitech.

My Tom Tom 720 Go has reveloped distorted sound on road instructions and Telephone Calls (using Hands free) The battery is OK and holds it charge. The fault happened suddenly. The unit has NOT been droped....

In all likelihood it is the speakers voice Coil, or if a Piezo one then it is faulty, it is not too hard to replace something like this, small speakers/pizeo units are available from Radio Shack, or the like, simply remove the "Old" one,and take it with you to choose a similar one, it is NOT too critical, if it fits, and is similar resistance etc, that will be fine.

Try some other 'voice'. Is it still distorted? The loudspeaker might have come loose or damaged. If the new sound is fine, the original software voice is damaged and the unit should be fixed according to the warranty.

Inspiron 530 sound distortion

What kind of integrated sound card do you have?? I am going to assume its realtek. Go to control panel, then open up RealTek HD Sound effect manager and make sure the drop down menu for Environment is on "none". The try your speakers.

Have you tried another set of speakers? If not I would do so cause your speakers might have just gone bad!

unless you are capable of replacing the jak on the speaker u need a new pair. the wiring functions the the jack which is now broken

Tom Tom no sound

Let the battery get full charge.
Take the SD off.
On the bottom push in the RESET at least 15 SECONDS.
(It will go off, but it is resetting)
After that press the POWER ON for 5 SECONDS
Put in back the SD card.
Done.... easy!!!!!
