The only way I know to delete music files or voice or FM recordings, is straight from the User's manual on the CD: 1. Set the e250 to MSC mode. 2. Plug it in to your computer with the USB connector. 3. Open the Sansa e250 drive in My Computer and browse to the MUSIC folder (or RECORD folder)and delete the files there. (That's where you also add music files, by dragging from other explorer windows.) To delete (or add) photo and video files, you have to use the Media Converter, which you install from the disk that came with the e250.

1

Connect the Fuze to your PC with the dock cable. Plug the larger end of the cable into the Fuze and insert the other end into your computer's USB port. A dialogue box will load when the computer recognizes the player.
2

Select the "Open Device to View Files Using Windows Explorer" option from the list of available actions. A window will load displaying the contents of the Fuze.
3

Open the "MUSIC" folder.
4

Right-click on the song you want to remove, then select "Delete" from the drop-down options that appear.

Whas the best way to delete songs off the Sansa 250e? ie. "bad tracks"

The songs are in the wrong format or have expired licenses

There are 2 ways to format an mp3 player - if you were formatting the mp3 player from "My Computer," then try reformatting from Windows Media Player instead - I have a "tips and tricks" entry on How to Format an Mp3 Player for details

If that doesn't work, then double-click on My Computer, double-click on the Sansa player, and go to the various folders that it lists - music, voice, etc. Delete the songs ONLY - do not delete the dat, bat, ini, inf, or other system files

My sansa e250

If you want to delete EVERY track off the player, then reformat the player in Windows Media Player - it's a shortcut - see my "tips and tricks" on formatting mp3 players

If there are artist, album traces, then you need to click on every subfolder under your device in Windows Media Player and delete every trace that way - tedious, but effective

Deleting songs from Sandisk

Hi. The minimum requirements of your Sansa E250 is Windows XP and above and Windows Media Player 10 and above. If you're using Windows Media Player 10 or above, your Sansa E250 and its contents should appear on the right pane when you click on the "Sync" tab. You can right click on a song and select "Remove". The songs will be erased permanently from the player. If your songs do not appear on Windows Media Player 10 or above, it is possible that your songs may have been saved on another mode. Your Sansa E250 comes in 2 modes: MTP and MSC. Songs saved on one mode will not be seen by the other mode, and vice versa. There are 2 ways to delete songs from your Sansa E250: By browsing the folders containing the songs, or by formatting the player. You can switch modes by navigating your E250's menu using the following: Menu >> Settings >> USB Mode Next, plug your player in your PC and open Windows Explorer. You should first set your Explorer to "Show hidden Files and Folders" by going to the "Tools" menu (located on menu lists on Windows Explorer window), then choosing "Folder Options", then enabling the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" radio button Deleting Music files under MTP Mode: 1. Your player should appear as a Sansa E250 icon in Explorer as a "Portable Audio Device". Double left-click this icon to browse the player. 2. You'll find a "PPI NAND" sub-folder. Again, double left-click on this sub-folder. 3. You'll find a series of sub-folders, one of which should be titled "Music". Double left-click this to open it. 4. Your music should appear as individual files or folders. Delete this to remove the file(s) from the player Deleting Music files under MTP Mode: 1. Your player should appear as a Drive letter and entitled either as a "Removable Drive" or as "Sansa E250" 2. Double left-click on this drive letter to browse the player 3. You may find your music files immediately on this folder, or you'll find a series of sub-folders, one of which should be titled "Music". Double left-click this to open it and view your music files. 4. Delete the music files you want, and they should be removed from the player Deleting files through Format: 1. Formatting the player erases all files in the player, and oftentimes this is the best option to ensure that all files are removed and any corruption eliminated. Also, it is best to format the player when in MSC mode. 2. When the appears as a drive letter (under MSC mode), right-click on that drive letter and select "Format". On the "Format" pop-up window, click "Start" to begin the format process. 3. Follow the on-screen prompts and safely remove the player from your PC when the "Format Complete" display appears. 4. Unplug the player from the PC and when the player is powered up, the message "No Files" should appear on the player's LCD screen 5. Switch the mode back to "MTP", or continue to use "MSC". Note: It is best to use "MTP" when you are transferring subscription music to the player. I hope this helps. :)

Deleting songs

Chances are that you are using windows xp. open up your sansa folder to where it says pictuer, movies, ect. look at the picture to see what to do. In your player folder click tools --> folder options --> View. Under hidden files and folders click 'show hidden files and folders, click ok. The music folder would now show up where the videos and pictures are. Simply open the music folder and delete the ones you do not want. By default the songs are sorted by artist --> album --> song.
