SOURCE: How do you get the fish to show up on the screen

Are you looking for the little fish symbols?
Press MENU, down arrow to SONAR FEATURES and press ENT. Arrow to FISH SYMBOLS and press ENT. Press EXIT twice. Any significant return in the water will now show up as a fish symbol.

Are you looking for the fish arches?
You won't get any arches unless the boat is moving and of course there are fish passing within the transducers signal. The shallower the water, the less area you are covering and less likely to get a fish return.

There is an OK guide to understanding what you see on the sonar screen at the link below. It if pretty technical but parts of it may help you out.

SOURCE: Lowrance LCX 28c HD with Navionics HotMaps Premium SD chip. Chip worked fine last fall but when I went to use yesterday the Lowrance would not read the chip.

I had the same problem with my handheld Lowrance Hunt C. After installing the card and locking it in place, I had to slide the card "out" toward the locking mechanism. It barely moves, but worked after that. Whenever I load the card, I now slide it out or wiggle it and it works every time.

SOURCE: transducer loses bottom at any type of speed

Check the transducer for any damage on the front part. Also make sure there isn't any damage on the bottom of the boat that is causing air bubbles to cross the face of the transducer. If it works at slow speeds there is definitely something causing air bubbles.

SOURCE: When at speed i tend to lose sight of the bottom

What you are experiencing sounds like air bubbles crossing the face of the transducer. If you have a transom mount transducer check the face of the transducer. Make sure that it is clean. Also make sure the front of the transducer is a tiny bit lower than the back. The digital readout on the screen will only happen when you have a strong signal of the bottom.

Why don't I see fish on my lowrance elite5 hdi fish locator

Sounds like you do not have your transducer connected.
You will know it is working if you have a bottom sounding. If you have a bottom sounding (depth reading) and it is correct then you may have to fine tune the finder to see the fish.
I have the same finder on my boat. http://njsaltfish.com/index.php/captainsfocus?sid=61

Transducer loses bottom at any type of speed greater than trolling. Worked fine last year with all the same setttings. All I can think of is , maybe the battery is low. The boat just came out of storage...

My depth finder loses its depth reading at about

You need to set the transducer lower. When at speed, the hull of the ship raises up out of the water and hence your transducer is probably not deep enough at these times to give a proper reading.

Lcs-20c GPS slow with HotMaps Premium 09 card

Does the image come back by itself if you slow down or stop and wait? If not, make sure you are not leaving the coverage area of the chart you are set to. In the LCX-20, that Navionics chart is split up into several sections, if you have one section selected and are on the border and then leave that area, the map usually goes all white depending on your zoom level. If you are on a border like that you will have to learn to quickly switch the charts from the MAP DATA menu.

If the map does catch up when you slow or stop, and just can't redraw fast enough...

Make sure the LCX-20 has the latest updates which can be downloaded from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/
These updates often add additional Navionics support.

Most likely though, this is just going to be the way it is with that particular map and the LCX-20. If you zoom out it will be much much better. So if updating doesn't help, zoom out. Experiment to see how close you can be zoomed in while running above 20mph. If you can get a good zoom level to where the map can keep up and you can still see the information you need then you should be good to go. If not, use the LakeMaster card or go get a different mapping option...or upgrade your display unit.

If you more then battery connect the fish finder to the second battery.
Or if the Depth finder is connected through the acc. on the boat. The power is being cut off be fore the starter is engaged. By pass this and connect through a correct size fuse.

Problem with navman 4150 fish finder

I installed my Navman 4150 depth finder along with the Navman GPS unit when I purchased my Bayliner Trophy 20Ft. Offshore model. Everything was ok for one year and it has been downhill since then. Losing signal, unbelievable high depth ranges, blank periods, etc.. I now can't even get a reading tieded up at the dock. I am now giving up and shoping for a quality unit.. Cape Disappointment.........

Turning on my Lowrance LCX 111HD fish locator creates static with my ICOM M502 VHF Marine radio.

Hello LJones0455. From your detailed attempts there are few options. Position the transducers one foward one aft. Connect the negitives of the battiers to the boat still route both positive & negitive wiring to all devices. Check the continunity of your transducers include flexing while ohming. Let me know of the results.
