It seems to be random, but occasionally I'll put in a dvd and it will play the video fine, but give no audio output - and its not consistent - a dvd that one day wont play sound wil play perfectly normally the next day, or even later the same day, and one that plays normally will later give no sound, then later play sound fine again.
I have had this happen with this particular brand frequently. I have it plugged in to a power "strip" or surge protector. I find that if I turn the strip off then on again, it resets and fixes the problem.

There should be a DVD Repeat modes or "Repeat/Repeat Modes" button on your remote. Press that until it's back to "ALL" and it should play things properly again for you.
the switch on the hdmi cable may have been switched to hd (if your on a non-hd tv) or onto tv (if you are on a hdtv) try switching it back, that might be it...
You will need to the remote to perform these functions. if you have it that's great, if not you willneed to contac Toshiba for a replacement. I ahve a manual for you to print out and keep with the unit. It shows you how to access the menu and to activate random mode..

no the problem is at the plasma you will have to change the setting back to the scale range that will accept the signals from the Denon, see Plasma's manual for instructions
If your unit is fairly new, your VCR part might be the problem.Take it back! If you have this unit for awhile, two things: 1. You need a professional A/V repair guy to clean up and check your VCR head. 2. The rental VHS tape is dirty. Good luck!
