Question about Goodman CKL36AR36 Air Conditioner

My Goodman unit won't cool below 78 degrees inside during this heatwave. The thermostat says

Not sure about the specific unit I own.

Your home may not be insulated well enough or you could have leaking duct or your system may not be charged correctly ac systems are not sized to cool below 76 degrees above 90 degrees outdoors because this will increase your utility bills during the cooler temperatures. thank your governement and all the regulations we have to follow for this. they would rather you save money than be comfortable. and we are actually in violation of state law and federal law if we install a unit that will cool below 76 degrees on 90 degree outdoor temp

Goodman energizes it reversing valve in the cooling mode. Usually in the "o" circuit of the thermostat wiring.You may have that wired hot somehow.

20 AMP Circuit, huh? More on this below.

The tech probably didn't put a hard start kit on, but if he did, I hope he added the resistor to the start capacitor, or you could have a problem in the future. He probably put a soft start on it, a 2 wire device which looks like a capacitor. But only you will know for sure (or he.). As for warranty, manufacturers don't care about soft or hard start kits. In fact, they like 'em, because they extend the life of the compressor, which keeps them from having to pay for a new one.

I would be concerned with a 20 AMP circuit for anything higher than 2 tons. Take a look at the nameplate rating on the side of the condensor and tell me how many Running Load Amps (RLA) this unit is supposed to pull.
Also need to know your line voltage at the condensor, with the unit running.

is the system zoned? if so maybe the zoning control board to the damper motor is wired improperly. when a system freezez its because of 1- restricted air flow across coil, (maybe dirty filter) or 2-low refrigerant charge. again could depend on how its zoned.

Check sub cooling and super heat. the New ac units are very critical to charge. There is a charging chart on the inside of the cover to the unit outside. Check temp difference across coil. Should be 18 to 22 degress. If you have an ampmeter. Check the heat strips one 5 kw might be stuck.(sequencer). This would cause you not be able to pull down temp. Goodman unit are hard to charge to get the temp difference across coil. Feedback please

Several problems could be the cause of the air not cooling. 1 the capacitor for the compressor is out. 2 the compressor itself is bad 3 the unit could be low on freon 4 the thermostat isn't wired correctly. All of these problems would need an a/c tech to look at due to the complexity of the system. Good luck hope this helped you somewhat

Just bought Topfield TRF2100, screen on and says"installation", but remote won't work.


Be sure there are fresh batteries in the remote. Be sure they are installed correctly and that there is nothing covering the remote's battery contacts. Look to see if there is a film covering the remote's infrared lens or the receiving unit's eye. Check your manual to see if you need to program the remote to the unit. if it's a multi-unit remote, be sure that you have set it to control the specific unit you're working with.

Picture is upside down


Although obvious, things happen: make sure the unit is not installed upside down.

Recommend going to the Picture section of you manual, and follow the instructions to reset you unit to factory specifications.

Unable to access dashboard


had same problem. I was able to resolve my dilema by finding the ip address of the unit (from router admin interface ). then I entered the address in my browser address bar. It now appears in my browser address bar as
(lacie icon) http://(ip address)/dashboard/. admin page then loads (have passwords handy as I don't remember for sure at what point the unit requests them). My unit is presently unusable with a different issue or I could be more step step specific. hope this helps. fyi turn off auto update for unit software as I am pretty sure that was source of my current problem.

Can a Panasonic DMP-BDT310 Blue-Ray player from the US be set to 220V? Does it have a voltage selector?


No it does not have a voltage selector.

These units are made specifically for different regions A B or C.

I suppose you could get a converter.. 120v 60 hz to 220 V 55 hz.. but I would want to make sure it would play the proper format for your region before going through the trouble.

Where is the oil pressure switch/sendor located?


Oil pressure can be checked at the sending unit passage with an externally mounted mechanical oil pressure gauge. To get accurate results from the test, make sure you follow the manufacturer's recommendations and compare your findings to specifications.
Testing the Oil Pressure Gauge
  • Test the gauge by grounding the wire that leads to the sending unit on the block.
  • When the wire is disconnected from the sending unit with the key switch on, the needle on the oil pressure gauge should be either all the way high or all the way low. Grounding the wire should make the needle move to the opposite side of the gauge from where it was before the wire was grounded. If the vehicle is equipped with an oil pressure light, touching the wire to ground and then removing the wire from ground should turn the light on and off.
  • If either happens, the gauge and wiring are good and the sending unit is at fault.
Testing Oil Pressure
Pressure can be tested by temporarily installing an oil pressure gauge in place of the sending unit. Before testing, look up the oil pressure specifications for your vehicle in the appropriate service manual.
  • Bring the engine up to operating temperature.
  • Now shut the engine off.
  • Locate the oil pressure sending unit; usually it is on the lower side of the engine block.
  • Disconnect the wire from the sending unit and use an open ended wrench to remove the sender. Using pliers can damage the unit.

A/c unit just blows cool air not cold air at the high range


mcdevito75 here, have your local a/c shop check it out they come to the house. You can check to make sure you have the unit on cool and that the filter is clean. Unit could use serviceing if not done in 2 years, specific cleaning and a charge of freon gas.

they make a specific one for this unit,but first check and make sure its not being blown out by too much down draft from the exhaust stack or a fan on the unit,watch it when it shuts down and see if the flame gets blown out or just goes out by itself

Broke the 12v DC plug on our Rubbermaid/Vector Thermoelectric cooler. Can't find a specific replacement plug. Any specific specs I need to look for in a replacement?


A generic plug should work...just be sure to size the fuse correctly to protect the unit. Most thermoelectric units draw about 4 to 5 amps...so a 10 amp fuse usually works.

Oil Pressure Switch Operation:

When the oil level is over a pre-set limit, the diaphragm opens the switch, turning off the light. When level is below the pre-set limit, the dash light comes on. In later model cars, if the oil pressure drops, the switch turns off the fuel pump, to stop the engine and limit damage to internal parts. Oil pressure switches can be grouped into two categories, units for electrical gauges and for mechanical gauges.

Oil Pressure going up and down during acceleration and decel.


Check your oil level in the engine. Oil pressure will read this way when the oil level is getting low...
