I am trying to find out if i can lock the controls since i live around small children
This is taken from the owner's manual from the 1121 with a VSI controller: I suggest you print this out and keep it handy. The VSI has a feature that enables you to lock your power chair to prevent unauthorized use. To lock the VSI: 1. With the VSI switched on, press and hold the on/off key. After 1 second, the VSI should beep. 2. Release the on/off key. 3. Push the joystick to the full forward position until the VSI beeps. 4. Pull the joystick to the full rearward position until the VSI beeps. 5. Release the joystick. There should be a long beep. 6. The VSI is now locked. To unlock the VSI: 1. Press the on/off key and power on the VSI. The maximum speed/profile indicator should ripple up and down. 2. Push the joystick to the full forward position until the VSI beeps. 3. Pull the joystick to the full rearward position until the VSI beeps. 4. Release the joystick. There should be a long beep. 5. The VSI is now unlocked.
Locking/Unlocking the VSI
NOTE: If the above procedure fails to either lock or unlock the VSI, contact your authorized Pride Provider.

It may not be the joystick. I have had the same problem before. The edel cable that goes from the joystick to the back of the wheelchair could be bad. You can try unplugging it and plugging it back into the joystick. Check the prongs on the cable and make sure their not broke. You can also try flipping the switch that is located down by the charger under the chair. The cable is around $200 and the joystick is quite a bit.

On some Jazzys there is a tension adjust on the freewheel lever. It could be that. But if you have replaced the motor and gearbox and it still is doing it the motor and gearbox should still be under warranty.

The number of lights that are blinking indicate what the problem is.
Visit this site to locate the type on controller on your power chair and
you will be able to see that the blinking lights mean:

Try to reset your manual brake release as this is a common problem.
The powerchair going in circles may indicate a motor is bad and needs to be replaced.
If you continue to have a problem, contact your manufacturer or dealer
for service. If your insurance purchased they power chair for you, they
may also cover the cost of repairs.
Good luck!
SOURCE: jazzy 1121 power chair won't charge when plug in
you have either bad batteries or a bad charger or the charger might have come unplugged at the controller or power module. When you have the charger plugged in and you turn on the joystick the lights on the joystick should ripple to indicate the charger is plugged in. If you don't see this ripple then either the charger is bad or disconnected. Trace the charger cable from the rear of the chair (you have to remove the seat and shroud to do this) to the front module and make sure that the cable is plugged in. Hope this helps
SOURCE: My jazzy 1121 is not
candy probably a battery issue but it could also be a charger problem also If the batteries had gotten really low then the charger is not designed to pickup really low voltages. If possible have your provider (Where you got the chair) check the batteries and charger for you Hope this helps
