Water is collecting in the bin. Have to empty it every 3 days and can't keep vegetables in the bin.
Just had mine repaired. The evaporator drain is plugged with ice. The solution is to replace the heat sensor and add a piece of metal extending from the small heat coil under the evaporator that supplements the piece already there. The guy that repaired mine used a piece of coat hanger wire for the extension. Except for the heat sensor, it's a repair anyone can do. Just take off the plastic cover on the inside back of the fridge, melt the ice obstruction in the drain and hang a piece of wire from the heat coil into the drain. He also used some metallic duct tape to raise the height of the drain tray on the ends so that it wouldn't overflow in the future.
Can you post a picture?
and, do you know what the new heat sensor is? why did that need replaced?
Extend the lower defrost element by wrapping a 8" piece of #14 bare copper wire around each side of defrost heater two turns if possible and extend each tale into opened drain in center. The original tab riveted to heater on ours was 1/2" long and nowhere near the drain that freezes up.
Samsung sells an improved metal "tab" to help keep the drain from freezing solid.

We had the same problem on our RF217. The tube that runs from your coils is plugged with ice. We had a Samsung repairmen fixed it by putting a heat probe next to the coils. It cost us $19 for the part and $200 for the labor. It is obviously a design failure and Samsung won't stand behind fixing it. Our warranty was up two weeks before we had known what the problem was and Samsung said that's just tuff (screw you).
same problem, Samsung was horrible as well!
less than a year later, leaking again, This time the temp in the refrigerator went up to 48 degrees. Another $200. JUNK JUNK JUNK!!! Stay away from Samsung junky refrigerators
I agree!! I\'ve had a Samsung RF217 for 2 years and have had it fixed 3 times!! It is a piece. I am now ready to buy a new refrigerator, and it will be either a GE or Whirlpool. The repairman told me that part of the problem is Samsung\'s are made in Korea, and it is very hard to get parts for them here in the US. I can\'t even buy groceries becuz the refrigerator doesn\'t keep ANYTHING cold.
Hi,
Add a Commenting the water_into_andunder_vegetable_bin for the 4th time (not even 2 years old) PIEC OF I WILL NEVER EVER GET A SAMSUNG ANYTHING AGAIN.
Amen
@ Daniel Tiemeier, ccan you tell me which parts need to replace? part number? and where can i order it? can i fix it myself?

SOURCE: there is water pooling inside the vegetable
Your refrigerator has a defrost drain blockage behind the evaporator in your your fresh food compartment. Some models like yours have 2 evaporators. I recommend that you unplug and remove the cover to the evaporator and check the defrost condensate tray below the evaporator. A wet vacuum cleaner and poring a solution in the drain will help you locate the leak and where. I do have the manual on yours and can help you solve this. Let me know, Sea Breeze

To much water coming in or faulty ice maker.
SOURCE: Ice accumulating in freezer
There should be a tube that brings water to your icemaker from the back of the fridge into the icemaker. This tube is frozen with water, or the inlet where this tube feed the icemaker tray is frozen. The result is that water cannot go to the ice maker, and instead, goes over the top of the inlet area.
Verify that this is indeed what is going on.
The fix is to remove the blockage/buildup of ice at the inlet. You may have to detach the icemaker to get to it. Be carefull with electricity! Also be carefull as plastic can break under stress!
The tube may be frozen to the inlet, channel locks can be used to gently twist the tube to break it free.
Good Luck!
SOURCE: ice maker won't work
Temp needs to be down to 0 or below for ice maker to activate. once that happend arms that push ice out will go around and made switch in end of ice maker that turns on water selenoid valve that adds water. this could also be electronic switch. main thing is its cold enough to activate. If it don't work then Ice maker may be bad or no power getting to it. turn freezer as cold as you can may mean setting refrig side warmer. If it has coil under refrig clean it out. Air around frig should be 68 - 75 degrees if poss.
SOURCE: ice maker very slow to make ice
Sir,
To solve this problem, you must open the compressor area at the back bottom of the refrigerator and chek the temperature of the pressure line. If the temperature is between 55celcius to 60 than its ok. Or else you need to change the refrigerant.
I suggest you to contact the service authority.
Thanks for contacting Fixya.

Strongly recommend that a refrigerator thermometer be used to test the actual temperature. The digital thermometer on this refrigerator is not trustworthy it is only a setting not the actual temperature. Samsung needs to be sued for this unsafe product.
actually it does read actual temperatures, this is how i found out mine was faulty, setting was at 34, actual reading showing on the display was 64
