SOURCE: I have a Samsung DVD -VR 357 combo unit and i can't record

I have the Samsung dvd-vr 357. I have had a couple problems with it but I called samsung and they walked me through fixing it each time. I don't know if you have tried this or not but that is my suggestion. The last problem I had was copying from vcr to dvd. I got audio but no video. Problem was it was on dvd when i started it, it should have been on vrc. It should be set on whichever one you are recording from. Hope this helps someone.

SOURCE: Need code for Viore TV to program LG RC897T DVD/VHS Recorder

If your oneforall remote didn't come with the page that gives you the set codes, you can try 991 as the code. So in this order ;
Press tv, wait fir it to blink
press 9 9 1, then power
(it should blink again)
press tv again - it should set

***IF THIS DIDN'T WORK***
SLOWLY press power, then tv, wait,
then power, then tv, wait,
After several times it should set.
(Each time you do this, it tries yet another code to set)

SOURCE: have magnavox dvd recorder record direcTV DVR programs w/ hdtv

I am unfamiliar with this unit.
If you have scart connecters on both, connect av2 on the tv to av in on the recorder. set the recorder to record from av source.
You should now record a program, I think the static is the fact that composite is out from the dvd only, not an input, and in on the tv, not an output.

Testimonial: "though unfamiliar with unit, pob-h tried to help solve my problem! that's more than i can say about my own husband! thanks for trying!"

tip

How to record a program you are watching on your cable satellite receiver.

Hello,<br /><br />Most of the time we watch TV programs with our cable satellite receiver/decoder. And sometimes we would love to record these programs so that we can watch them again. You can learn how to record your TV program while you watching a TV program. <br /><br />All you will be needing is a DVD recorder or VCR (Video cassette Recorder). It all depends on the one you prefer.<br /><br />There are two methods of doing this connection. 1. is RF connection and the other is RCA. But I will start with the RF connection method;<br /><br />This is how is works. Get a RF cord, check the back of your TV, you would see RF in, connect the RF into TV in, then connect the other part to RF Out at the back of the Cassette or DVD Recorder.<br /><br />Turn the Cassette or DVD Recorder and the TV on. Go to Channel 1 or any channel on the TV, search the TV stations automatically or manually in order to get a display of the Cassette or DVD Recorder on the TV. To easily get the Cassette or DVD Recorder's station, play a movie on the Cassette or DVD Recorder while you search for the station. Once you see the display of the movie on your TV, you would easily know that that's the Cassette or DVD Recorder station. <br /><br />Once you have gotten a display from the Cassette or DVD Recorder, save the channel on the TV.<br /><br />Then get another RF cord, connect it to "RF out" at the back of the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver and the other part to "RF in" at the back of the Cassette or DVD Recorder.<br /><br />Now with the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver turned on and the Cassette or DVD Recorder also turned on, press the Cassette or DVD Recorder's channel, you should find search. Scan for channel/stations on the Cassette or DVD Recorder just like you did on the TV and you will find a display of the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver showing on the TV via the Cassette or DVD Recorder. Note that on some Cassette or DVD Recorder, you will have to select "Source" to RF before you can get a display of the channel.<br /><br />Now since the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver program is now showing via the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver, insert a black disc or cassette into the Recoder and press record. The Satellite/cable decoder/receiver programs showing on the TV via the player will be recorded and that would be all.<br /><br />For some recorders that has internal hard drive, you can just press record without inserting a blank disc......<br /><br />USING RCA CONNECTION METHOD.<br /><br />You could also achieve this by using a RCA (yellow, red and white cord).<br /><br />The connection procedure is the same with the RF explained above.<br /><br />Connect the Recorder to the TV. That is, from "Video and audio Out" of the recorder to "video and audio in" of the TV accordingly. Press AV or source on the TV to confirm that there is a display from the recorder on the TV.<br /><br />Now connect the RCA cord to "OUT" from the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver to "IN" at the back of the Recorder.<br /><br />Then, press source on the recorder to "INPUT" (RCA) and the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver's program will automatically display on the TV. <br /><br />While the Program is being displayed on the TV via the recoder, insert a blank disc and press record on the player and it will automatically start recording. You will see the record or record symbol while the recoding is in progress.<br /><br />I hope you understand the above. Please follow steps closely and you won't have any problems.<br /><br />Good luck.

Not receiving a TV signal through the DVD recorder and cannot record programs or watch TV through the DVD recorder

Firstly you must have a good connection from your antennae to the dvd recorder, secondly a good connection between recorder and tv
via scart lead or hdmi. Check these out before you do anything else.

I cannot get my DVR4300 to go in to TV channel change mode while recording a program

Why not simply record a channel tuned into the vcr and use your tv remote to watch a channel tuned into your tv? that is how it is normaly done... don't forget a vcr/pvr/dvd recorder has it's own channels just like a tv does... just no screen of it's own the tv has of course it's own channels and in fact does not even need to be switched on in order for your recorder to record a program neither does the recorder need to be on to use your tv

Cable box, digital service, channels not appearing

connect the RF lead from the wall to your cable box then out from that to your dvd then out from your dvd to your tv. now connect a scart lead from the cable box to AV 2 on the DVD then connect AV 1 on the DVD to your TV if you have a second scart on your tv connect that to the cable box. NOW on the DVD select AV2 now whatever is on the cable box will be recorded onto DVD/VCR. Put the DVD recorder into VCR mode and set it to auto tune all the Digital Video Broadcasts. You cannot physically tune the cable boxes own channels into the DVD via RF it has to be via a scart.

Hooking up a DVD player to a LCD TV

Typically, there is no video out from TV. You would have to connect the satellite receiver output to the DVD recorder input and connect the DVD recorder output to the TV. Word of warning - digital signals (DTV coax or HDMI) from the satellite receiver carry copyright info embedded, which may limit what it will allow you to put on a DVD. Typically anything can be recorded on the hard drive of the recorder, but programs from subscription channels may not go to a DVD.

NO MENU SCREEN ON TV

You MUST connect the recorder to the Tv with a SCART cable that is why you are not seeing anything.
I suspect you are using only the RF or Ariel Cables
If you have it connected with the scart cable you must choose the AV channel on your TV remote.

How to burn from TV onto DVD

Idealy would be to have a DVD-recorder, so you can record TV program (and signal from other sources, of course). Also, you can program it by timer to record TV program. You can by DVR with hard disc, or cheaper without HD and record it to DVD+/-RW (you can rewrite it up to 1000 times).
