I have an audiovox CDM8910, without a sim card. I have Cricket service which does not require a sim card. Sometimes it will say I have full signal, yet I cannot send nor recieve texts, calls, or voicemails. There is no pattern to when it works and when it doesnt. But it normaly only works for a time period of 10 minutes, then it goes back to not working. No one else with this service is having these issues. The batterie is constantly dying, even if it was charging for hours. It worked fine when I first got it, but about a month into it this happened. I bought a new battery thinking that could be it, and that batterie actually NEVER works. Sometimes the phone will not work for days. It constantly cuts my calls, and never stays charged. It would normaly say "Charging is Complete" when it is, but if it ever does say that anymore its normaly once every week or two. The error messages it displays when the texts fail are either "SMS Connection Fail" or something along the lines of general failure (sorry I cant remember that one exactly). But its very frustrating, and has left me in quite the situations. If anyone can help that would be great.

if there is a sim card slot on any cell you can use the phone...just one thing might stand in your way (do the starcom say verizon on it...you may need to have this cell unlocked) most carrier do that...but put the sim in now and call your house phone to see if it works or not...
This is what I got back from Jensen/Audiovox:
"I am sorry, but this product line has been discontinued and there are will be no updates issued for the mapping software. Audiovox will continue to support these units for service and repair issues. I apologize for any disappointment this may have caused.
Sincerely,
Trudy, Customer Service"
I will never again purchase an Audiovox/Jensen pieve of ****!
what phone company was the phone using before you unlocked it (sprint) ?? that slot you are looking at is probably a memory card slot not a SIM slot. everything im reading says that phone is not a GSM phone aka it doesnt take SIM cards
Well usually the SIM card is under the units Battery, so remove back of phone and remove battery, you should now se your SIM, held in place by a carrier. Simply slide out the SIM.. & replace correctly orientated into the new phone's SIM carrier. Always power ya unit OFF. B4 doing anything.
