Wiring a Pump for 220

you cant run a 220 pump on 110.. thats what youhave..need a 220 circuit to do this..the black is hot.. the white is neutral and the ground goes to the casing of the appliance but this wont run .. you need a 4 wire line..black/red/white/and earth ground(bare wire)..220

Pos and negative are DC voltage terms. And that pump is a 220 VAC pump. L1 and L2 are the two HOT terminals - so you will have 110 VAC on one leg and 110 VAC on the other leg and it doesn't really matter which HOT you put on which leg.

Yes... just wire one leg together and run the other leg through the timer...the one leg will always be hot, but that does not matter as long as you break the other leg...

220 VAC is more efficient ... so there is some cost savings in the money department. Volts X amp = watts generally ... there is still a savings because you will actually consume fewer watts at 220 (watts is what you are purchasing form the power company)

Wiring depends ...you going to use 110 or 220? if 110 ... black is hot and goes to L1 ... white is nutral and goes to L1.

If 220 ... black is hot and goes to L1 - white is hot and goes to L2.

Your owner manual has a good picture and description of this.

In the plug ... 110 - neutral should go to the left slot.

Is your breaker 110 or 220 (single pole or double pole - one slot or two slots)

These voltages are not compatable!

I suggest you use this pump at 220.

Sounds like you have lost one leg of your power

Think of it like this

You an upside down "Y" at the top of your breaker panel
220 - 240 volts come in the Y and break in half 120 volts to each leg of the "Y"
A 220 Volt breaker straddles both legs a 110 volt breaker only contacts one leg
I suspect that you have lost one leg
Possibly at the main breaker ( top most)( main disconnect) in your panel
If you have a tester with the capacity to test 240 you can test the two top lugs where the main wire comes in Test them together That is one probe of your tester on each wire you should show 240+/- volts
Then you can move down through the panel 120 +/- on each leg

if this is for your polaris booster pump they all have to screws to attach the wires if you have 220 volts it won't matter which wire goes where the longes the pump is rated for 220 volts if you have 120 volts pump is the same just make sure your wires are for 120 volts it won't meter which wire goes on which side just make sure you use L1 AND L2

That is a stinger leg and you will burn the unit up. 2-@110/ground is what you need.
