I found the parts manual on line at GE Appliances.

The replacement parts for the top indicated pictured two clips holding the front of the dryer in place.

I tried a narrow screw driver on the clips and that released the top.

With the top off, removing the front panel required removing two screws, lifting the drum and pulling slightly on the front panel.

After removing the wires from the door switch, I was able to find the broken zipper, clean out the fan, remove excess lint and reassemble.

Need to convert from natural gas to propane

Take 3 screws out of bottom side of Z shaped metal part on the back of the dryer's top. Stand in front of dryer and use the palms of your hands to sharply push dryer top back about 2 inches and lift top off. Open door and remove screw at 4 and 8 O'Clock position. Remove control panel (ususally 2 screws and a bunch on retaining plastic parts along the top side) and set on top of dryer or unplug electrical plugs and set aside. Remove screws at top of front panel. Unplug light bulb and door switch. Tilt front panel forward and lift off bottom tabs, then unplug moisure sensor wire at bottom, allowing front panel to be set aside. Remove 4 screws at sides of drum support assembly, lift up and off. Release belt, and remove drum. (easier to do if flat metal part originally right behind control panel is removed first) Use belt as a handle and lift drum out of dryer, allowing access to burner assembly. Change burner orfice and regulator blocker. Re-assemble and test.

Dryer is squeeking

Hi

The motor bearings may be worn. Remove the drum drive belt and then start the dryer. If it squeals with the belt off then the motor bearings are likely worn.

There is a small roller that tightens the drive belt for the drum. They can squeak. Remove the lower front panel and you should see the small roller near the motor and belt.
Another is the two larger rollers that support the drum. You will see this if you remove the front lower panel. Another is where the drum rides on the upper round part of the door/opening and it has a plastic guide that separates the metal drum from the metal door/opening. Over time this wears out and the two metal pieces will squeak.

My dryer drum turns slowly

Sounds like the belt is slipping,
Did you hear a humming noise or any other kind of unusual noises coming from the dryer at the start up or after?
If it makes a humming noise, most likely the problem is a bad motor which has to be replaced in such a situation.
If it makes noises but not a humming one then the problem could be with the worn out drum support rollers and/or the idler pulley.

To get access to all the parts inside the dryer, remove two screws at the lint screen slot and using a putty knife, push and pry the clip on each side in front of the top panel to release the holding clips. Lift up the top panel until it rests on the hinges. Unplug the quick disconnect plug for the door switch. Remove a screw from each side of the front panel. Pull the front panel up and toward yourself to release it from the retainer clips. Looking under the drum you'll find the idler pulley with the belt. Draw a picture of the belt that goes through the idler pulley onto the motor pulley so you will know how to assemble it back. Remove the belt and pull out the drum. Now you have access to all parts inside the dryer.
the parts you will see are The motor ,The belt,The drum support rollers,The idler pulley. ------ also check the lint trap in the bottom of the dryer.if any foreign object or metal object like coin or broken pen or a cloth is got jammed in the lint trap that this will stop the drum from rotating to its normal speed.you can get required parts from.www.repairclinic.com this will help.thanks.

Help my dryer makes an awful squeaking noise when I dry . Maybe a loose belt not really sure. Do you have any ideas it still dries just sounds terrible doing it. Thanks Donna

The problem may not be the rear bearing. It could be the drum glides in the front drum bearing that the drum rubs against as it spins. The rear part of the drum is supported by the drum bearing. The front, however is supported by the drum glides. These glides are plastic and do wear down. Once they wear through, you usually have have metal on metal scraping as the front of the drum will be rubbing against the case of the dryer. You can view the glides at appliancepartspros.com. Type in your model number as "DBXR463EB0WW" The digit before the last two W's is a zero, not an "O". Go to the "Front Panel and Door" heading and locate items 313 and 316. This is the entire front bearing with glides. If the bearing itself is not worn, just replace the glides (take note of the glide color, there are different part numbers for them). You will need to lift the top panel, to access.

If you inspect the glides and they aren't worn, or if the noise you are experiencing is definitely coming from the rear bearing, you will need to remove the front panel of the dryer to access the drum. Once the front panel has been removed, you will need to release the tension on the dryer belt and remove it from the drive motor. Then, with the belt still wrapped around the drum you can use it as a handle to help guide the drum from its rear mount. A replacement kit is located under the "Drum" heading as item 508 (Includes all the parts).

Ideally, you hope that this is a simple drum glide problem. The repair isn't that difficult. Replacing the rear bearing, however, can be extensive for someone that has never performed this repair before. Take note of the exploded view diagrams for reference. NOTE: If you decide to repair this yourself, make sure the dryer is UNPLUGGED any time you service it. Dangerous voltage is still present inside the dryer, even with the power turned off.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My 15 year old Maytag Dryer is starting to squeal from the drum rubbing metal to metal up front. The Belt is in good shape. What else could be problem?

Time for a new one I think, but here goes.
The drum guide rollers at the rear or the guide pads at the front will be worn out, due to the age parts may be difficult.
To inspect:
Electrically Isolate the machine, at the joint between the front panel and top panel insert a flat blade 4" from each side to release the top catches and tilt the lid back to open, remove the front panel internal screws and remove the front panel.
The drum and machine internals can be seen.
Remove the drum belt - note the belt path direction around the motor and belt tensioner.
The drum removes by rotating and easing forward, there will be pads or rollers that support the drum, check these as they are the most probable cause.

Cracked Drum on LG Dryer Model #DLE2512W

If you are still looking for information on this:
No, there has not been any recall.
It is not a real common problem. I only see 1 or 2 a year, which is not many. (LE errors on washers are much more common, for example) The part number of the drum for a DLE2512W dryer is 3045EL1002D and lists for just over $100. You can find a service center to order the part from (in the US) at http://us.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp
I would rate the repair at about a 5 or 6 out of 10 on a scale of 1-10 in difficulty. (Basically, remove top, remove front control panel, remove front panel, remove front drum support, remove belt, drum comes out the front, reassemble.)

Drum Stuck

First, take off the top of your dryer. Use a screwdriver to pry the top up in front, then it's usually held on by some swing metal hinges on the back that simply come off by themselves as you rotate the top of the unit up and back. Then, you should be able to see all the screws and metal brackets holding the front of the unit on, remove all of these and you should be able to pull the front off. It may be necessary to unplug some of the wires when doing this. Then you should have full access to the front lint filter section on the door, and the fan section underneath the drum. The fan and the drum spin together, so if the sock is stuck in the fan that will also stop the drum. Good luck

How to remove a back panel of maytag neptune dryer?

You have a choice for which side front door should be on this model. There are 4 screws on front door. Take all 4 screws and pull down the front panel. You will see two metal parts each side which holds top panel. Remove two screws and metal parts. Now you can push up the top panel.
