How do I tranfer from video camera to my computer?

What do I need to buy in order to transfer from vidoe from my camera to my computer? I've heard everything from ..."I have to buy a PCI card ..to buying a special cord..." Does anyone know? Should I sell this thing or what??

I'm pretty sure you just have to buy a firewire cable for it (4 pin to 6 pin). This is the cable Amazon.com suggests:http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F3N401-06-I...

Transfer vidoes to a computer using a USB connection

Consider NOT using the USB connection.
The best way to download videos (and pictures) from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy videos and pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files.

Palmcorder Vidoe Transfer Issues

usb will ONLY work for tranfering "pikts" you "must"use a firewire cable, port, and software(sony vegas, pinnacle, ect')to"capture"or "save"the video to your laptop.(being you have a mini-dv tape cam)
heres the low-down, unless your laptop has at least 1-gig ram,160+gig hard drive, firewire port, dvd burner,2.5ghz processor,,,it's goin to be a struggle.
capturing a good quality video to your comp hogs a LOT of space(25-35 gigs per hour of footage!),dvd creation (authoring)is another world!.
if you simply want to put somthing on the web,buy a nice photo camera with video recording,or a mini DVD disk camcorder,OR-a HDD(hard drive)camcorder,,,ALL the priors dont requier anything "special"to get it on to your laptop, and can be edited for posting by simple progs like "movie maker(xp,vist)or i movie(mac),but if you want a dvd of your final product, you MUST have a "authoring"prog like sony vegas or pinnacle.
--from my experience for tape camcorders, firewire is the only and best way to get it to your harddrive(set  capture settings to "mpeg2,or,AVI"
good luck!!

Which wires and programs do u need to have to put my vidoes onto the computer my video camera is CCD-TRV128 NTSC

This is analog video camera and can not be connected directly with computer.

Computer requires video files in digital format to store / write it on HDD or write a CD / DVD.

Best option is hook camera with DVD Recorder and burn DVD, now you have video of camera in digital format and can upload / transfer in computer for desired task.

Only SOME of my pictures on my camera will tranfer to my computer

Hello and welcome to FixYa

Please go to a electronics store and buy a USB card reader. I bought one last week and it cost $0.5 so its cheap as dirt. Then simply remove the card from your camera , pop it into the reader and the pictures will appear on a drive like a flashdrive in your my computer folder.

This is a much better option than using the camera's cable as it is faster , safer , saves on your camera battery and you don't need to install any software or drivers.

Kind Regards
Andrea

Vidoe transfers

It cannot be done, the camera only recognizes videos taking with the camera and has not been erased. One transfer off camera and erased, no way to access the video file.

Tranferring

you cannot edit in your cam; you need to transfer to your pc, then use a photo editing or video editing programme and then type in your titles before you burn to a disc.
