I don't know why people are posting non-avanti refrigerator questions in here, but I have a problem specifically with the cube-sized, Avanti compact refrigerator. The fan is working, I don't know how to check if the compressor is working, but one day all of a sudden I went in there and it was not cold inside anymore. Why did this happen, we have owned it for less than a year! It is on the highest setting. I turned it off for a while, and turned it back on, still nothing. I felt semi-cool air coming out from the fan, but when I leave it for a while, there is no change in temperature. What could have happened? This is only a Refrigerator, there is no Freezer, it is not capable of freezing.

I had this same problem. I did some troubleshooting and figured out that the fan was being bogged down by ice. It wouldn't spin because the ice was so heavy. I turned the power off completely and let the ice melt. Once the ice was removed from the fan, the fridge began working again!
Call the number in your service manual. they'll ask you to sent the receipr, the silver sticker on the back of the fridge, and a piece of the outlet cord so they know it's not in use. they'll ship you a new fridge.

Hi, lay your hand on the compressor to find out if it's working. You'll be able to feel it operating. If it is operating and not cooling, it could be a freon leak. Look at the solder joints coming from the compressor as I had one get corroded and leaked. If the freon has indeed leaked out, you have a new boat anchor because no appliance repair shop I called will attempt to refill it.
If the top of the freezer is cold and the bottom is not, you may have a problem with your fridge heater/defroster.. If the heater element go bad the top part will freeze over and block the air passage to the bottom of the fridge. If it really gets bad and you don't unplug the fridge or get it fixed it can cause more damage by freezing the fan blades and causing the fan motor to overheat and add a fan to the bill.. Frost free is just a continual cycle between freeze and thaw, the little heater element which cause the thaw takes a beating..

The return section of the gas cooling circuit is hot. Goes out cold comes back hot, so if that area has return lines behind it nothing wrong with the outside of a fridge being hot. Some fridges even have heaters built in around the doors and openings to prevent freezing up.
Good day, You did not say if it was running or not. If not running at all, then it may be the cold control, (thermostat) that has failed. You can remove it, jump the 2 wires going to it, and see if it runs and cools. If so, you may be able to contact your local appliance parts house for a replacement. However, if running and not cooling, then 2 options. 1. If under 5 years, sealed system should be under warrant. Call your selling dealer for details.' 2. If over 5 years, not price effective.
Sounds like a your problem may be in the thermostat. Reason I say that is because when you leave the door open it continues to run and freeze and frost is seen on the freezer walls. I just think maybe the thermostat has become less sensitive to temperature change. To test this unplug the freezer and connect the 2 wires to the temp control together.
