Skybox won't dispense anything

My Maytag Skybox won't dispense anything. Whenever I hit a button to dispense any soda, the light for the specific button flashes, then all four buttons flash until I open the machine and close it again. I've checked, double and triple-checked how beverages are loaded (regular 12oz canes), have let it cool for 48 hours before trying (sometimes if its warm, it won't dispense properly, I've read). All the child-locks are off. Of course this happened after the Skybox was out of warranty, and I'm hoping that its something simple that I've overlooked. Any help is appreciated!

REMOVE 11001182 BOARD ,CUT THREE WIRES OFF LITTLE BOARD.IF ONE END WIRE HAS X ON IT DO NOT USE. GET COMMON RADIO SHACK ALARM WINDOW SWITCH THAT CLOSES WHEN MAGNETS ARE TOGETHER AND SILICONE THE TERMINAL MAGNET TO SOLID EDGE OF DOOR FRAME ,SILICONE OTHER TO MOVING DOOR EDGE SO MAGS OPEN WHEN SODA OPENS DOOR AND CLOSES WHEN YOU PULL OUT SODA. REMMBER DO NOT HOOK UP THE 2 END WIRES THEY ARE DIRECT SHORT. JUST FAR END WITHOUT X AND MIDDLE WIRE

REMOVE LITTLE BOARD FROM END OF 3 WIRE HARNESS. 3 WIRES ARE   COM   ,NORM OPEN   NORM CLOSED . 1 WIRE SHOULD HAVE X ON IT. THIS IS NORM CLOSED. DO NOT NEED THIS WIRE.  THE 2 END WIRES ARE DEAD SHORT DO NOT  TOUCH TOGETHER. JUST MIDDLE WIRE AND WIRE WITHOUT X PRINTED ON IT. IF YOU DO NOT SEE X ON WIRE JUST HOOK UP MIDDLE AND 1 END WIRE , WHEN YOU CONNECT DOOR PLUG AND TAPE BLACK MAIN DOOR SWITCH CLOSED THE RIGHT 2 WIRES WILL ACTIVATE DISPENSER .HOOK UP THESE WIRES TO A COMMON WINDOW ALARM SWITCH MAGNET TYPE. SILICONE TERMINAL MAGNET TO UPPER RIGHT DOOR FRAME ,THE OTHER MAGNET TO UPPER RIGHT FLAPPER DOOR SIDE , MAGNETS MY HAVE TO BE 1 INCH APART TO OPEN WHEN CAN JARS THE DOOR. WHEN SILICONE DRIES HOOK UP THE MIDDLE WIRE AND END WIRE THAT ACTIVATES DISPENSER  NOW YOU HAVE AN OPEN AND CLOSE WAY TO RESET DISPENSER CYCLE.  NOTE  DO NOT USE END WIRES TOGETHER    CENTER WIRE ONLY   X WIRE NOT USED.

AirdoctorZ, if you are still around, I have a question. Can you look at the attached picture and tell me where the sensors would be placed? Your fix worked, and now I just need to understand how the reset will work with the sensors. Thanks!

Check the door where the cans come out. there is a sensor or the left side. if it is too far away from the door or if it's broken, it will do exactly what you said. i read somewhere that you can adjust the sensor closer to the door. i just bought one of the last one of these on the shelves 2 days ago and mine won't cool at all. stupid maytag..

Before installing the sensor in the dispensing door (flapper), coat the front and back of the PCB with oxygen sensor-safe RTV (NAPA or others). And regarding magnet replacement: polarity of the magnet is important as this is actuating a solid state hall-effect sensor, not a reed switch. Just match the polarity of the other magnets. If you get it in backwards, it will not work. Another source for the magnets is www.gaussboys.com (that's where we bought the prototype unit magnets).

Looks like I also found the answer to the problem of Skybox not dispensing. I replaced the sensor in the dispensing door and my Skybox now works great!
Part is available from partselect.com just look up your Skybox model number, mine was Skybox model MBV1976AAB. The diagram on the website should show you the exploded view of the door section of your Skybox. You are looking for partselect.com part number 901892 or on the exploded view it will be number 21. The Maytag part number is 11001182, board flipper sensor. My Skybox had been down for two years and now works again!

Not sure if anyone has had this problem yet, but when I press the button for the top 8 can dispenser, the motor cycles slowly and then all the lights on the front flash really fast.
I pulled the dispensing unit out and realized that the flap for the top section was missing its magnet. I'm getting ready to order the magnet. Hopefully it is still available.

Ordered the magnet, glued it in, and it works like a charm.

Another WOW ! ! ! I had several problems that needed to be fixed. 1. Ice build-up in the back of the dispensing units pulled out one of my motor connections. Not much ice, just enough to pull out a small connector. 2. My can door flapper hinge (one rod on the top of the inside side of flapper) had developed some rust and my magnet was almost getting close enough to the sensor to work. Cleaned and lubricated the rod. Works fine. 3. When I put the dispensing assembly back in, I accidentaly turned one of the child locks on. DOH! ! ! 4. There are screws set back inside the left side that must be removed to take out the dispensing assebly. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver and you can fix this thing yourself! !

Wow! I've spent the last two years opening the door to get my drinks because it wouldn't dispense. The Maytag repair guy hates my guts (long story). I found this site last week, ordered the part, changed it out and bingo! I'm in heaven. Thanks guys.

Follow the solution by chadschloss for this problem. He nailed it. I never got through to the Maytag tech helpline. I even had a Maytag service repairman come to my home (so degrading to a competant do-it yourselfer). He was totally baffled and tried to call the same techline I did with no success. He left without a clue, suggesting I junk my machine since parts are not easy to find. WRONG !!! I found PartSelect.com in five minutes, found a part I knew I needed, ordered on Monday night and installed it Wednesday night! Who needs Maytag service? No wonder they are lonely. Anyway, the real problem was that flapper door sensor, just as chadschloss said. My Skybox is well again.Thanks,chadschloss.

    Footnote from Jonmon:
My flapper door sensor was not broken nor misaligned.
My skybox would sweat in the flapper door area.
The sensor had a build-up of "gunk" and shorted the circuit.I simply cleaned the little board, reinstalled and it works just fine.
Chadschloss made me aware of the sensor and its' location.

Cyberferret, that fact that all four leds are flashing sounds like the chute sensor is broken on one of the bins or the chute plate is not returning to it's home position. Check that the flipper doors are returning to their home position. Check to see that all the harnesses are connected properly to the main pcb. I've been out of the loop for a while on repairing vending machines but in the past when a coin operated one would not accept any money, it usually was because one of the dispensing motors did not home, or of course a bad coin mech. Check these things out first. Catriver..post back

Replacement compressor for maytag skybox soda dispenser M#MPV1976AAP

A replacement compressor was NEVER made availible for this product. Be sure the problem is not just the start relay and overload. Buy a SUPCO URCO41 from an appliance parts distributor (www.marcone.com) for about $25.00. The installation instructions are on the package.

SkyBox second button will not dispense

If nothing happens, the switch behind the button must be broken, or something on the PCB that the button is mounted to is broken. But if lights blink, then the button is ok and the problem is with the motor or some sensor. I have a troubleshooting guide for the dispensing system (better than Maytag ever published), as I was directly involved in the design of this product. This does not cover the refridgeration system, as that was provided by our Chinese manufacturer. Please email me at: [email protected] if anyone wants this guide.

Cannot get soda to dispense

I have intermittent problems with one dispenser and disassembled the system and swapped drive motors for the dispensers. The problem followed the motor. Partselect.com shows that they sell the individual rack assemblies but I have not yet ordered one. I am trying electrical supply stores to see if I can just buy the motor but I doubt they will be able to track it as it has no markings.
