SOURCE: 1976 JD 214 lawn mower Kohler engine K321AQS

When it shuts down crack the fuel cap and listen for the woosh of a vacuum on the fuel tank. If you hear this, clean the pinhole vent in the fuel cap, or replace it. Being partially plugged would cause you to be starved for fuel and could explain your issue, and why it goes away after a period of time.

You might check ground. some of these units were ground positive. did you switch the posts? This would cause problems since the electrons are on the inside of the condinser.
Good luck

SOURCE: My engine turns over fine, but I have no spark. I

Confused about having the magneto tested. First make sure the "air gap" is between .010 and .012. A good test is to leave the coil mounted but disconnect the single black wire that connects to the spade terminal on the coil. Turn the engine over and check for spark, if you have spark then reconnect the wire and test again. If you have no spark then the problem is within the grounding circuit and you would need to troubleshoot that area. Hope this gets you in the right direction.

Cub cadet with kohler sv725 has compression, and spark wont start even on starting fluid sprayed in carb

There needs to be fuel, air, spark and compression. It may not start with starter fluid if it's already flooded. It may not start if a valve is stuck open.
You can take the sparkplug out and check to make sure it's not got excess fuel. Plug should be dry.

How do I set points and condenser on hyosung Mx 125

Hey Maryna, This is a job for a professional,, the timing is critical so engine damage doesn't happen!!.-- BUT, if you have someone who has the tools.. you can do it yourself.
The points control the time the spark plug fires. The point gap makes sure the spark is generated is sufficient enough to provide the energy to the coil to provide the hot spark to the spark plug.
The timing should be around 1.8 - 2.0 mm BEFORE top dead center..(the piston location). When the piston is at 1.8 - 2.0mm BTDC the points should be just breaking contact.. this is the ACTUAL TIMING setting!! You need a dial indicator with attachments to fit into the spark plug hole AND a meter to tell you when the point first open.. The points gap should be .014".
Some engines use the point gap as a timing setting...ie.. if the point gap is right (.014") the timing should be close. The timing has to be very close...too advanced (2.2mm BTDC or more) and you will burn a hole in the piston!!!! IF you set the point gap and the timing is off, you need to replace the points. There should be some timing marks somewhere on the flywheel/engine case. If you need more help,, just reply to this post. Good Luck!!

What is the spark plug gap

A gap tool is what you use to set the gap on your spark plugs...The gap is the tiny space on your spark plug that allows the plug to fire the engine. When you buy the spark plugs at the auto parts, the spark plugs come pre gapped for your specific engine. I usually check them to make sure.

John deer 110 got spark at points but no spark at plug

If this is a Kohler engine make certain that you have replaced both the points and the condenser with new parts. You should not see sparking at the points if they are installed and adjusted correctly. For Kohler, the correct point gap should be about .020 inches - use a gauge. Don't assume that your spark plug is good - replace. While the number of spark plug failures is few I have had it happen.

I changed my front 3 spark plugs and a broken wire now and i have very bad rough idle and i could hear clicks? whats going on? should I put the old ones back on? the new ones were bought from...

The spark plugs should be matched up with the old ones to be sure that are the same as the new spark plugs and that the threads are not too long or too short and if the spark plugs were pre-gapped or if they need to be gapped, and the auto part store should have given you that information along with any spark plug gap because some spark plugs you can not set the gap on or they will be damaged. The spark plug gap should also be printed on the emission label out under the hood. Also, the other three spark plugs and wires should be changed to complete the ignition tune-up.

The spark plug gap should be the same amount between all of the spark plugs, and the farther apart that the gap is between the spark plugs the rougher the engine will run and idle, and the closer that you get to the same spark plug gap between the spark plugs the smoother the engine will run and idle.

It is also very important that the spark plugs be connected to the correct terminals on the coil pack or the engine will have a severe mis-fire and it will set a mis-fire DTC (Data Trouble Code) and cause the check engine light to come on.

Here is a firing order diagram to help assist you and let me know if need help with this diagram or if you require any further assistance.

2004 KIA OPTIMA WON'T START AFTER SPARK PLUGS WERE CHANGES

HI. There are several areas of concern here. I will list them below. Check all areas stated in the list for faults.

Possible cuases:

1. Incorrect firing order set. On the 2.0, 2.4 and 2.7 engines. These engines are equipped with a distributor-less ignition system. This system incorporates a coil pack assembly, along with wire sets. In order for the assembly to fire correctly, the order of the wires must be set to the proper sequence. if not, the engine will not turn over, or start correctly. Make sure your firing order is correct, and make sure you have not placed a particular wire set into the wrong cylinder. I will post a picture of the correct firing order for your engine, below this list, shortly.

2. Incorrect spark plug gapping procedure. If the new spark plugs were gapped incorrectly, this will not allow for proper spark, thus, preventing optimal combustion, due to lack of fire. Check the spark plug gap using a wire gap gauge, and adjust if necessary. The gap should be 0.039-0.043 in. (1.0-1.1mm)

3. Failed coil pack assembly. This will be the worst case scenario. The coil pack supplies the necessary current that fuels each plug. The current is transferred, via wire sets. This will be the culprit if all the above areas are proven to be operational, and in good shape.

4. Failed wire sets. Replace the wire sets if faults are found at the connector at the ignition coil pack, or at the plug boot.

NOTE*
In order to provide the correct firing order for your engine, i will need the engine size and liter information, if possible. Please post this information, asap. Thanks..

Replaced coil, spark plugs, plug wires, rotor and rotor cap, and the part under the rotor (forget the name) car has a miss when idleing and when getting on it, NAPA said the spark plug gap should be .035,...

if this is a four cylinder engine, the plug gap is what NAPA told you, verify you have the right plugs and gap, next remove the cap again and verify the plug wires are pulled into cap where they will lock in.

Parts list for Kohler K161T engine was mounted on a Troybilt Horse - older model. Need stator number - would like to see parts list or internet site to access it. Kohler has no spark

I have a troybilt tiller with a K161T Kohler 7 horsepowe engine. I have replaced all electrical components, spark plug, points, condenser, stater, all wiring, and cleaned magnets, but to no avail. I still have no spark. The points open and close properly, the plug is gapped correctly. Does anyone have an idea?
