Handset stops transmitting sound briefly during conversation

While listening to the other party, my handset stops transmitting (I hear nothing but silence) for one or two seconds, then recovers. this may happen once or twice during a ten minute conversation. When this recovers, the other party seems to know that something was wrong. ("Hello?) Would an old handset battery in need of replacement cause this?

I have the same problem with my phone. While having a conversation I will hear my phone go quiet and then a few seconds later it will recover.

SOURCE: I have a Panasonic KX-TGA652 dual handset no

Id try the following in this order:

  1. Try swapping batteries with another set and see if the problem follows the battery
  2. Try re-registering the handset, they could of missed one at the factory. that is done by selecting menu->initial settings->register handset
If this doesn't work, then return for warranty/exchange. Mine seem to work great right out of the box.

SOURCE: Phone (base and both handsets) rings once, then

This is likely caused by a trouble from the service provider. It is caused by a partial short on the phone line. The service provider can usually test the line remotely when you call the trouble in. Occasionally this problem is caused by faulty equipment(phone, answer machine, modem, etc.), bad line cord, bad outlet or bad building wiring. Inside the outside telephone interface box there is a modular test jack that has a short line cord connected. Remove this line cord and connect a standard telephone to test the phone line. Make a call to your number, if the problem occurs with the phone connected to the test jack, then the problem is with the service provider. If the problem does not occur with the phone connected to the test jack then the problem is in the building wiring, outlets, line cords or devices connected. Use a process of elimination to determine where the problem is. Example: disconnect all phones and devices and line cords, make test call with one phone connected, if problem continues inspect outlets and wiring.

Testimonial: "Our phone actually started working correctly again, so I think you were correct in saying it was the service provider. Thank you for your help!"

I have listened to all my messages but my handset still blinks and says new voice mail. How do I access those voice mails?

I had the same problem and checked the panasonic site and the solution worked for me. Here it is:
You received a message on the voice mail system provided by your telephone company. To hear the message, dial the voice mail access number provided by your service provider, and follow the voice instructions for accessing the mailbox. Depending on your service provider you may need to clear your voice mailbox to remove the notification. If you have listened to all your voice mail messages and the handset still indicates New Voice Mail just clear the message on the handset by pressing and holding the [OFF] button for about 5 seconds to clear the displayed message on the handset. I just found this on the internet hope it helps you out.

No signal at night

What you are hearing during the day must be what is called "skip". Skip is active during the day where you will hear radio operators from hundreds of miles away. Their signal is bouncing off an atmospheric layer well aboe the earth's surface. At night this atmospheric layer degrades and then so does the skip. Unless there is someone close to your vicinity transmitting on the channel you are listening too, you will not hear much at all. Try changing the channels until you pick up a conversation.

How can I get the telephone on my Brother Fax T96 to work?

Step by step information at the link below.
Brother Fax T96
The F/T Mode is used to allow the fax machine and the telephones to share the same telephone line. When a call comes in, the fax machine and all extension telephones on that line will ring according to the number of rings you have set for the Ring Delay.
When the Ring Delay is completed, the fax machine will answer the call and determine if it is a fax call or a telephone (voice) call.
The fax machine can determine this by the signal it is receiving on the telephone line. If someone is sending a fax automatically , the sending fax machine will transmit a fax tone (a series of beeps every 3 seconds).
If your fax machine hears these tones, it will receive the fax.

If the fax machine does not hear any fax tones, it assumes it is a telephone (voice) call and will begin ringing the F/T ring tones (double ring) for the length of time you selected for the F/T Ring Time. These tones will only ring on the fax machine's handset (extension or external phones will not ring). At the end of the F/T ring time the fax machine will go into the receive mode in order to receive a manual fax.
(If the call was a voice call and was not answered, the caller will hear the fax receive tones also).
  • If you answer the call before the fax machine(during the ring delay period) and determine it is a fax, you can transfer the fax to the fax machine for receiving.

  • If you answer the call on an "extension" phone and hear a beep every 3 seconds (automatic fax) or silence (manual fax), press *51 or *91 for New Zealand (remote activation code) on the telephone keypad, wait to hear the fax machine turn on (chirping sounds) and then hang up.

  • If you answer on the handset of the fax machine and hear a beep every 3 seconds or silence, press the Fax Start or Start/Copy key on the control panel of the fax machine and then hang up the handset.

  • If you answer a call on an "extension" phone during the F/T Ring Time, you will hear the F/T ring tones.
To release the call from the fax machine, press #51 or #91 for New Zealand (remote deactivation code) on the telephone keypad and you can speak to the calling party.

  • If you pick up the handset of the fax machine during the F/T ring time, you may talk to the calling party immediately.

Clicking noise and out of range

digital is supposed to stop your calls from been listened into, if it is analogue it is very easy.
are there a choise of different channels? can you haer her conversations?
turn off the base and try turning on the handset and see if you can listen in?
if the phone battery is getting old it won't transmit as far.
the signals move in line of sight so if you move the base it might work better for you and maybe make it difficult to listen in?9They might get your signal stronger than there own?

No sound comes through the ear piece on handset.

The first troubleshooting question is do you have the in-call volume turned down? If not, then it's a physical problem.

Razrs are notorious for various speaker problems. If you're adventurous, you can open it and see if a wire has slipped or shorted out. Please note that this will void your warranty! Otherwise, I would just recommend taking it to your cellular provider and asking them to replace it. Many providers will replace handsets for free if there's no physical or water damage to it.

In the meantime, try using the mini-USB headset that Motorola ships with the phone or picking up a third-party one, or use a Bluetooth headset.

Calling party cannot here receiving party

This can be one of a couple of things. First of all, if this is a multi-handset phone, go off hook on two handsets at the same time and see if you can hear yourself in both phones (Speak into one while listening to the other) If it is only a single handset phone, do the same thing only with another phone. If you cannot hear anything coming from the uniden phone, it may have a bad mic in the handset and would need to be replaced. (the handset not the mic) If you bought it less then a year ago and still have the receipt, call uniden at 18002971023 and they will help you get it replaced.

When we dial out the answering party cannot hear us, but we can hear them?

These phones are extremely durable. The most likely cause is a bad handset cord, which is a standard modular type and easily replaced, or possibly just a bad handset, which is proprietary. (The handset cord connection at the handset is hidden by a snap on cover you can remove with a small screwdriver or fingernail file. Pry it just above the cord as it enters the main handset body.)
