Frigidaire Dishwasher upper arm doesn't turn

Unlike most of the questions I have seen, the upper arm in mine is getting water, but it doesn't turn.  I have taken the arm out and blasted water through it with the garden hose to make sure the openings aren't clogged.  I've even taken the entire upper arm assembly outside with the hose and blasted water through it.  There is enough pressure that if it did turn I could use it to water half my back yard, but it just won't turn.

SOURCE: Clogged

Richard, There should be a spin nut just above the spray arm that attaches to the spray arm hose. Unscrew this and it should come off. Catriver...post back.

SOURCE: Upper arm does not spin

Hi,
OK, the arm is jet-propelled, so it will spin if it is free to rotate and has water squirting down into it. If it >is< free to rotate, then either the water isn't squirting, or it is missing the target. On my machine - different brand - the guide cone came loose when I dismantled the upper bar assembly and it hadn't gone back correctly aligned, so the water missed the hole.

I'd check that first. D.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Dishwasher - Spray Arm Not Working

When a dishwasher has been checked for obstructions in the sump area and the spray arms can spin easily (by hand) plus the spray arm holes are not blocked, you end up with either a broken impeller or a failing wash pump motor.

If you would like more details of have more questions, please post comment back here, OK?

Good Luck!

SOURCE: upper spray arm on dishwasher does not move

you most likely have gunk inside the arm or holes not allowing the water to spray out and turn the arm. Otherwise, the arm bearing may be stuck and will need a gentle push to loosen up.

I had the same problem, but was able to find the replacement part at http://www.partselect.com/shipping.aspx. My old arm also has the number 1544681 on it. If needed use model number PLD2855RFC1 to locate the same part. Good luck!

Why won't my upper arm spin?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that the upper arm is not spinning in your Frigidaire dishwasher, model# FDB635RF. First, check to make sure that your water pressure is between 30 and 120 PSI. If the water pressure is not good in the area your dishwasher is located, try not to use any other water in your home while using your dishwasher. Secondly, make sure that there are no tall dishes that could possibly be blocking the upper arm from spinning. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your dishwasher status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best regards-

My Frigidaire dishwasher upper sprayer arm is not rotating. Can't figure out why?????

Over time, dishwasher spray arms can become clogged with minor debris or hard water buildup that can prevent the arm from turning properly. An easy suggestion is to apply rinse aid to the junction between the spray arm and the mount to help remove it. Try this tip first to see if it resolves the issue. - Best of luck!

Upper spray arm on my Kitchen Aid dishwasher (8573025) doesn't work.

Arm operates(turns) by water pressure. If it does not turn no water is going to the top spray arm. make sure the setting washer is on does not preclude the top spray arm from operating(read manual). If not check arm by spinning by hand to make sure it is free. If arm is free and it still does not turn when DW is running than there is a restriction in the tubing to the upper spray arm or the check ball or solenoid are not operating correctly.

Upper arm not getting any water

Hi

Please check if something is blocked near the top spray arm, also make sure that all holes are open. Use a sharp metal pin to clean the holes on the top spray arm. Make sure the water pressure is not low.

under the screen and you'll need a Torx screwdriver to get to it after you remove the spray arm and screen. Check to see that the path it travels is clear. I have seen these get blocked up by stuff.

Now check if the top arm spins freely and check the bearings for the arm, if they are producing extra friction while the spray arm spins. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more assistance.

The upper arm is free spinning by hand, but from all indications, it is not spinning. Water is flowing freely and drain is excellent. Is the upper arm problem a major repair.

Apparently no water pressure to upper washing arm.

Hi sounds like there is a blockage in the circulation pump which causes low water pressure as it cannot push the water around. You would have to remove the unit and turn on it's side and remove the circulation pump to clear the blockage.

Also check all the holes in your spray arms for any blockages. Best to remove each arm and clean in the sink. Any blockages causes the arms not to turn.

Frigidaire dishwasher - upper spray arm trouble?

I do not have a problem w/the upper arm not spinning. Rather, the upper arm keeps falling off of my frigidair dishwasher. The owner's manual suggests the upper arm is a single unit. However, the upper arm component is comprised of 3 parts. The parts are an arm that distributes the water, the base that screws to the top of the dishwasher, and a small plastic type washer that rides in the base and literally holds the arm to the base. The plastic washer has two small clips that tend to wear or contrast with age; thus letting the arm fall off on a very frequent basis.

Potentially, the small plastic washer piece may have broken in the base assembly and is not allowing the arm to turn. As water flows into the arm from a hole in the base; suggesting the plastic washer may be jammed with a foreign item seems less likely. The base unit screws to the top of the dishwasher and can be removed by hand (the base is a little tight). There are no mechanical pieces to my third (upper) arm; movement of the arm is accomplished with water flow.

You may wish to remove the arm assembly and check for a broken washer or a foreign item in the assembly. As a side note, I found that I can unscrew the base and remove the assembly without removing the top dish tray. The fit is a little tight but the tedium of pulling and reinstalling the top tray can be eliminated by unscrewing the assembly w/the tray slid forward for assembly access.

Hope all you have is a foreign item that is locking the washer.

Frigidaire FDB740RCS0 Upper Armnot Turning

the motor stops and runs in the opposite direction to pump water up to the top rack. you first need to listen for the motor to stop and start. if you hear that open the door and try to tell if water was coming out of the top spray arm.
