Have you tried to Re-sync?

1. Start the game from the disc, and wait it to run.
2. Press the sync button on the wii fit balance board.
3. Press the sync button on the wii console.

Some people say that holding the wii console sync button for 7 seconds works best.

SOURCE: wii fit board

same thing happened to me. Try playing the game cd first and after you go through the screen where it confirms the connection with your wiimote, try turning on the wii fit board. If it isn't recognized, it should direct you back to the home page...somewhere or even underneath your wii fit cd display, there should be a new option for you to config. your wii fit board. Hope that helps

Wii board

Make sure that you have synced the board to the wii (similar to a controller). You have to take the battery cover off the board and push the sync button. The blue light will start flashing. From there you need to open the front cover of your wii under the power button.

From there you start up wii fit and it will prompt you to turn on your board. You should get a solid blue light. If you don't, you may need to try syncing again.

The lights just flash when turned on then they go off again, we have changed the batterys several times

In most cases, the wii fit will not stay on unless a wii fit compatible game is running and is asking you to turn on the wii fit board.

You may need to resync the wii fit board and wii. You'll have to press the red button on the wii (next to sd card slot) and red button on the balance board next to batteries.

When i put my wii fit board on it flashes blue but turns off straight away but batteries work in controller

Try reconnecting the board to the Wii by holding the red button inside the little plastic flap on the front of the Wii and under the battery cover on the balance board.

    Try these steps!

  1. Insert a Wii Balance Board compatible game disc in the Wii console.

  2. Use the Wii Remote to select the Disc Channel from the Wii Menu, then select "Start" to begin the game. Press the A Button to bypass the wrist strap screen.

  3. Open the small SD Card slot cover on the front of the Wii console.
  4. Remove the Battery Cover on the bottom of the Wii Balance Board.
  5. Press and release the SYNC button on the Wii Balance Board. The blue light on the board will start blinking.
  6. Press and release the red SYNC button on the Wii console while the blue light on the board is still blinking.
  7. The blue light will stop blinking and stay on steady once the syncronization is complete.
