I have the same problem on a DX2300, I replaced the motor with a new one and tested it without the drum and the motor spun but it would not stay running if i let off the start button. I put the drum and everything back together and it wouldn't spin. So I took the drum back out checked rechecked everything, retested the motor and now the motor won't spin. I only get a hum when i turn it to start. i had this same problem it sounds like a thermal fuse its usualy a small device white mabe with 2 wires connected to it on the back of your dryer there might be a cover plate but you shouldn't have to tear into your dryer, you can also check em with an Ohms tester,to see if the thermal fuse is working properly
Hi, Sounds like your motor has gone bad... A dryer may not start for many reasons... This tip that I wrote will help you to figure out what is happening...
You most likely have a bad motor. Try to spin the dryer drum by hand with the door open, door swich held or taped down, and while pressing start. This will likely get the motor going. If this works try closing the door and starting it again. If it works now the motor may have just had a hard time starting do to it's position or the drum's postition. If it only works when you help it out manually you have a bad motor or maybe a sticky drum/jammed belt/etc. Good luck!
